UW-Stout 4, UW-Stevens Point 3
STEVENS POINT (November 21, 2008) - UW-Stout spotted seventh ranked UW-Stevens Point a 3-0 lead after the first period, but the Blue Devils came back for a 4-3 win over the Pointers Friday at Willett Arena.
The Pointers (6-2-0, 1-2-0 NCHA) wasted no time jumping all over Stout (6-4-0, 1-2-0), scoring three times in the first six minutes of the game, getting goals by Russell Law, Jon Madden and Travis Erstad.
The Blue Devils made it on the board five seconds before the end of the second period when Matt Morin (Fr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) scored on the power play.
Only 1:15 into the third period, Jack Wolgemuth (Sr, Anchorage, Alaska) scored his first goal of the season, another power play goal. The Blue Devils knotted the score midway through the third period as Eric Scovill (So, Peoria, Ill) scored his first collegiate goal.
Jared Britton (So, Regina, Saskatchewan) got the game winner with less than three minutes left in the game, getting an unassisted goal for his second goal of the season.
Matt Koenig (Sr, Lakeland, Minn) came on in relief after the third goal and did not allow a goal, stopping 29 shots. The Pointers' Thomas Speer stopped 23 shots.
Stout will host UW-Eau Claire, Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dunn County Ice Arena. The game will be broadcast by both Blue Devil Video and WMEQ 880 AM.
