MENOMONIE (November 15, 2008) - St. Scholastica took four shots in the second period and scored three times as the Saints defeated UW-Stout, 5-2, Saturday at the Dunn County Ice Arena.
The score was knotted at 1 apiece after one period, but St. Scholastica (4-2-0, 1-1-0 NCHA) scored four consecutive goals to go up 5-1.
The Saints opened the score on a shot by Joey Martini midway through the first period, but Stout answered back with a power play goal by Joel Gaulrapp (Jr, Owatonna, Minn) with two minutes left in the opening stanza.
St. Scholastica's Trevor Geiger gave the Saints the lead for good with a power play goal at 9:39 in the second period. Aaron Spotts added a goal at 16:14 and a little more than a minute later, AJ Tucker score his first of two goals. Tucker added a power play goal seven minutes into the third period.
Stout's Paul Henderson (Jr, Menomonie) scored at 9:20 for the final score.
The Blue Devils (5-4-0, 0-2-0) outshot the Saints, 38-27, with Scholastica goalie Steve Bounds make 36 saves. Stout's Jesse Pischlar (So, Sudbury, Ont) had 22 saves.
Stout will be at UW-Stevens Point, Friday, Nov. 21, then return home to host UW-Eau Claire, Saturday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
