STEVENS POINT (October 4, 2008) - The score of 5-4 keeps coming back to UW-Stout, but today the Blue Devils turned the score around and defeated UW-Stevens Point, 5-4.
Stout lost their first four dual meets by 5-4 scores, but this time the Blue Devils (3-4, 1-2) swept all three doubles matches and snagged the bottom two singles matches to pick up their first conference dual win of the season.
Allie Hinman (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) and Amanda O'Keefe (Fr, Stillwater, Minn) teamed up at No. 1 doubles for an 8-3 win. Jodie Czech (Sr, Foley, Minn) and Kiersten Thomsen (Jr, Andover, Minn) took the No. 2 win, 8-5, and Lindsey Luberda (Jr, Champlin, Minn) and Emily Jubert (Fr, Green Bay) got the win at No. 3, 8-6.
Jubert defeated Kaitlin King, 2-6, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 5 singles and Sarah Smith (So, Stevens Point) came through in her hometown with a 6-4, 6-2, win over Emily Oxton at No. 6 singles.
The Blue Devils also played Ripon College later in the day, blanking the Red Hawks, 9-0.
Czech won her No. 2 singles match without dropping a set, while Hinman and Thomsen lost only one set at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Stout will host UW-Eau Claire, Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 3 p.m.
