Mikayla Knudson

Mikayla Knudson was named the second University of Wisconsin-Stout women’s lacrosse head coach in July 2024.
 

UW-STOUT (2024-Present)


2025: The Blue Devils posted a program best 8-6 record in 2025. Stout won their first conference game in program history and finished 3-6 in WIAC play. Stout won their first home game in their brief history and finished 7-2 on Nelson Field. Stout started the season with five straight wins. Including four one goal wins. Stout won their first overtime game 10-9, topping UW-Stevens Point just 21 seconds into the extra frame.  The Blue Devils were second in the WIAC and 10th in the nation with 25.8 ground balls per game. Stout showed improvement in goals scored per game, goals allowed per game, total draw controls and shots on goal percentage. Luci Fitzgerald and Mai Nou Vang were selected to the 2025 All-WIAC Second Team Brenteson was named Honorable Mention All-WIAC. Fitzgerald, totaled 27 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers. Vang led the Blue Devil offense with a career and program best 37 goals, 14 assists for 51 points, including four game winning goals. She led the league with 5.36 draw controls per game, 75 in total and had 35 ground balls. Brenteson led the WIAC in ground balls with 59 and ground balls per game with 4.29 (18th in the nation).

BEFORE UW-STOUT


Augsburg University (2021-24) Knudson served as head coach of the Auggies from October 2023 to July 2024 after serving as an assistant during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. She assisted the program in all aspects, including recruiting, scouting, scheduling, practice- and game-planning, travel accommodations, managing the team’s budget. 
 
Elk River High School (2019-23) Knudson spent five seasons as an assistant coach.
 
Knudson has also spent time as the head coach for eight seasons with the Elk River Youth Lacrosse Association.

 

PLAYING CAREER


Augsburg University (2017-21) A five-year player for the Auggies, Knudson played in 65 games and tallied 90 goals and 17 assists for a total of 107 points throughout her career and earned Honorable Mention All-MWLC in 2019 and All-MWLC Second-Team honors in 2021. Knudson tied the Augsburg single-game records with nine points and seven goals against Monmouth College on March 31, 2019. 

 

PERSONAL


A Zimmerman, Minn. native, Knudson earned a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in psychology from Augsburg University in 2020 and Master’s Certificate of Leadership from Augsburg in 2021.
