Andrew Delong joined the Blue Devils in May of 2019 and was named Director of Golf in 2021.
UW-STOUT (2019-Present)
Delong is in his seventh season on the Blue Devil staff, taking over the men's program in 2019-20 and coached the women's program from 2020-2023
2024-25: The Women’s golf team finished second at the WIAC Championship and landed three on the All-WIAC team. Julia Imai was the WIAC champion, the WIAC Golfer and Newcomer of the Year and was selected to the WGCA All-Region Team. Imai also placed eighth at the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship (PWCC). Sydney Grimm and Brin Neumann were named second-team All-WIAC. Liz Rohl won the WMG Humanitarian Award.The Blue Devils won three events and had six top-4 finishes. Stout had four individuals win individual titles. Andrew Bauer (74.76), Dalton Anderson (75.58), Cameron Lee (74.94), Connor Lingen (75.62), Hunter Neumann (75.53), Casey Peters (75.93), and Garrett Sigl (75.36) all averaged under 76 strokes.
2023-24: The Women’s golf team finished third at the WIAC Championship and landed two on the All-WIAC team. Abbey Filipiak was the WIAC champion for the second time and was selected to the WGCA All-Region Team. Sydney Grimm was also first-team All-WIAC. She finished fourth at the 2023 WIAC Championships. Filipiak was received the Judy Kruckman Scholar athlete award. On the men’s side, Andrew Bauer (75.38), Dalton Anderson (75.43), and Austin Gaby (75.76) all averaged under 76 strokes. Cole Noreen averaged 76.14.
2022-23: The Women’s golf team finished third at the WIAC Championship and landed two on the All-WIAC team. Abbey Filipiak, was selected to the WIAC First-Team and the WGCA All-Region. She finished third at the 2022 WIAC Championship in October. Kendra Swanson was selected to the WIAC second team. She finished 17th at the 2022 WIAC Championships in October, her third straight top-20 finish. Austin Gaby led the Blue Devil men with a 76.2 shot average. Just a shot behind was Hunter Neumann (77.1).
2021-22: Abbey Filipiak earned medalist honors at the WIAC Women’s Golf Championship, was selected as the WIAC women’s player of the year and earned all-region honors. As a team, the Blue Devil women finished fourth at the WIAC meet. On the men’s side, Austin Gaby set a school record by recording a 7-under 65 at the Twin Cities Classic in September, 2021.
2020-21: Delong took over the women's program in December, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, the team had only four players throughout the spring season. The young Blue Devils - two freshmen, two sophomores - finished third at the WIAC Championship. Abbey Filipiak finished fourth individually and was named All-WIAC and the WIAC Newcomer of the Year. The Blue Devils two sophomores improved their finish at the conference tournament from the previous year. On the men's side, Austin Gaby averaged 77.29 strokes with a season low 70. Noah Benbow averaged 77.75, Ben Plant (78.67) and Sam Klobucar (79.19) and Isaac Larrabee (80.00) all averaged an 80 or better.
2019-20: Austin Gaby led the Blue Devil men with a season stroke average of 77.83 over 12 rounds. He shot a season low 75. Matt Johnson averaged 79.67 with a low score of 73. The spring 2020 season was canceled due to COVID-19.
BEFORE UW-STOUT
Sheboygan Area School District (2000-2019) Delong, a technology education instructor at Sheboygan North High School, has been the school’s boy’s head golf coach for 10 seasons. Delong led his team to the Wisconsin state golf tournament in 2009, 2017 and 2018. In addition to coaching golf, Delong has been an assistant swimming coach, an assistant hockey coach, head volleyball coach and assistant volleyball coach at Sheboygan North. He has also been an adviser to the North yearbook, newspaper and student council. In 2018, Delong was selected as the Sheboygan Area Schools teacher of the year. Delong has served as president, first vice-president and second vice-president of the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) board of directors, is the chair of the GCAW College Showcase, is a member of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Golf Coaches Advisory committee and served as the chair of the Ryder Cup 2020 Marshall Committee.
Whistling Straights Golf Course (2007-19) served as golf operations where he supervises college interns, trains new staff and, as the manager on duty, manages the golf operations on the course.
PERSONAL
A native of Elmwood, Wis., Delong earned a bachelor’s degree in technology education from UW-Stout in 2000. He went on to complete his master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from National Louis University in 2004. Delong and his wife, Kate, reside in Menomonie. They are the parents of three children a daughter, Adrianne, and two sons, Cole and Ari.
