2024-26 will be Fanning's first season as Associate Head Coach and tenth season at UW-Stout.
 

UW-STOUT (2016-Present)



In her nine seasons at UW-Stout,  Fanning has helped coach 25 All-WIAC selections, six WIAC All-Defensive Team members, two WIAC Newcomers of the Year honorees, six D3hoops.com All-Region selections and two D3hoops.com All-American.
 
In the classroom, the Blue Devils have had 91 WIAC Scholastic Honor roll honorees, and 13 CSC Academic All-District selections.

2024-25: The Blue Devils made history in 2024-25. Advancing to the programs first ever NCAA Division III Final Four. Stout went 23-8, 10-4 to finish second in the WIAC. Stout hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA Division III tournament, defeating Ripon (87-57) and No. 6 Whitman (75-69) to advance to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year. Stout then topped rival Whitewater 62-56 to advance to their first ever Elite 8 topping host No. 5 Scranton 81-77 before falling in the final four to No. 1 New York Univ. 74-55. Stout had four all-WIAC honorees, a n All-WIAC defensive team member, two all-region selecions and an All-American. Raegan Sorensen wrapped up her carrer with numerous acolades. First-Team All-WIAC, D3hoops.com First-Team All-Region, D3hoops.com Second-Team All-American, and WBCA Honorable Mention All-American. She led the WIAC and was 20th in the nation shooting 55.0 percent from the floor, scored 30 or more points four times. and finished her career has the programs all-time leading scorer with 1754 points and 737 rebounds (fifth all time). Anna Mutch was named All-WIAC, third-team D3hoops.com All-Region, and was fifth all-time with 1449 career points. Amanda Giesen was named First-Team All-WIAC and finished her career sixth with 1330 career points. Sam Schaeffer was named to the All-WIAC Defensive Team Lex Wagner wasHonorable Mention All-WIAC. She shot 45.7 percent from 3-point range (fourth in the nation). She led the WIAC and was 17th in the nation in 3-pointers per game (2.88)and set a school record and tied a WIAC single game record with nine (9-14) made 3-point field goals against UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 22


2023-24: It was a banner season for the UW-Stout women’s basketball team. The Blue Devils won the WIAC tournament championships for the first time since the 2007 season, earning the automatic bid to the NCAA national tournament. The Blue Devils advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time since the 2006 season. Reagan Sorensen received All-American honors, the first blue devil to receive the award since the 2010 season. The 2023-24 season saw three major swings. Stout started the season 10-1 after cruising through non-conference play. Stout then opened WIAC play with a resounding 82-53 road win over then 25th ranked UW-Stevens Point. But Stout struggled in the rest of the first half of league play dropping six of their next seven including five straight. Sitting at the bottom the WIAC standings with six games left to play, Stout rattled off six straight games to finish third in the WIAC. Stout then won three straight WIAC Tournament games including road wins over No. 8 Whitewater and No. 14 Oshkosh. Stout won their fifth Tournament championship to punch their ticket to the Tournament. Stout defeated WashU and Puget Sound in the first and second rounds to advance to the Sweet 16 on an 11-game winning streak, before falling to No. 2 Translyvania 63-58 to end the season. The Blue Devils had the WIAC's best scoring offense, averaging 73.4 points a game. They held opponents to 59 points a game and had a scoring margin on 14.4 points.  Raegan Sorensen also earned All-WIAC and All-Defensive honors. Amanda Giesen, Anna Mutch, and Lexi Wager also received WIAC honors.

2022-23: The Blue Devils finished the season 18-8 overall, averaging 68.5 points per game (second in the WIAC). To secure their first WIAC Conference championship sine 2007. After a season opening loss, the Blue Devils rattled off 10-straight victories, including a win over No. 19 ranked UW-Oshkosh. The Blue Devils tied a school record with 12 made 3-point field goals against Dominican (Ill.). Stout overcame a 17-point first-half deficit to rally to a double overtime win against UW-La Crosse. Stout beat rival UW-Eau Claire on the final game of the season to claim a share of the WIAC regular season championship and earn a first-round bye in the conference tournament. Raegan Sorensen was named All-WIAC, All-WIAC Defensive team and All-Region. Anna Mutch and Amanda Giesen each received All-WIAC honors.

2021-22: The Blue Devils finished the conference season as the No. 2 seed in the WIAC Tournament, hosting a second-round tournament game for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Freshman Raegan Sorensen was selected as the WIAC women’s basketball newcomer of the year and was an All-WIAC honorable mention choice, along with Amanda Giesen and Anna Mutch.
 
2020-21: Freshmen Anna Mutch and Tess Johnson were selected to the  All-WIAC honorable mention team and Mutch was selected as the conference's newcomer of the year in a year that saw the regular season trimmed down to only eight regular season games, plus the WIAC Championship tournament, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

2019-20: The Blue Devils played four overtime games, the most in a single UW-Stout season in school history. Forward Amber Fabeck and guard Shannan Watkins were first team All-WIAC selections. Watkins was a member of the WIAC all-defensive team. 

2018-19: UW-Stout took off as the Blue Devils rolled off 10 consecutive wins to start the season, the first time in school history that has happened. The Blue Devils finished the season at 18-9 overall, 7-7 in the competitive WIAC. Stout hosted a WIAC tournament game for the first time since the 2013-14 season, finishing fourth in regular season league play.

2017-18: The Blue Devils finished 7-18 and winless in WIAC play, despite averaging 65.3 points a game and shooting 37.2 percent from the floor. Kyncaide Diedrich received All-WIAC honors and Bailey Diersen was named all-WIAC honorable mention. 

2016-17: Fanning's first season the Blue Devils finished 7-18. Stout averaged 65.7 points a game and as a team shot 38.0 percent from the floor. Jenna Goldsnith and Kyncaide Diedrich were named honorable mention all-WIAC.
 

PLAYING CAREER



UW-Stout (2012-16)
Fanning was a four-year player for the Blue Devils, earning All-WIAC first team honors her senior year when she averaged 11.2 points per game. A two-time team captain, finished her Blue Devil career with 821 points and 235 assists.

At Spencer High School Fanning (Herbert) finished her high school career with 870 points, 310 steals and 295 rebounds. She averaged 14.1 points, 4.8 assists, 3.7 steals and 3.4 rebounds per game during senior season and was selected to two all-conference teams and earned MVP honors during her senior season. She racked up 12 letters during her Rocket career in basketball (four), volleyball (four) and track (four). In track, she was a two-time conference champion in long jump, high jump, and triple jump. She was also a two-time all-conference selection in volleyball.
