Chris Iliopoulos

Chris Iliopoulos became the fifth head coach of the UW-Stout softball team in July 2022 and holds a 45-70 record.

Iliopoulos served as the Interim Head Coach in the 2022 season and spent four years as an assistant with the Blue Devils. 
 
As head coach, he has coached seven All-WIAC selections, 32 all-region selections, four All-Americans, two WIAC Player of the Year. In the classroom, Iliopoulos has coached 43 WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll selections, and 10 CSC Academic All-District selections.

2024: The Blue Devils started the season 10-1, matching the best start in program history, en route to their first 20-win season since 2018. Stout went 22-20 and advanced to the WIAC semifinals. Mackensie Wolterstorff and Payton Dolecki received All-WIAC honors. Wolterstorff, a senior pitcher from Mounds View, Minn., was named First-Team All-WIAC. She had a career year for the Blue Devils in 2024 posting career bests in innings pitched, ERA, strikeouts, games played, wins and saves. Mackensie Wolterstorff and Payton Dolecki were named All-WIAC. Wolterstorff started 20 of 32 games played going 12-12 a with three saves totaling 147.1 innings in the circle with a 2.23 ERA and 126 strikeouts (54th in the nation) 13 complete games and just 47 earned runs. At the dish, she had 15 hits in 42 at bats for a .357 batting average and .400 on base percentage. Dolecki, a sophomore center fielder from Schaumburg, Ill., was named All-WIAC honorable mention. She started all 42 games with a .340 batting average and .450 slugging percentage. She totaled 49 hits, 11 doubles, two triples and 27 RBI. She was 22 of 25 on stolen base attempts. She had 14 multi-hit games and five games with three hits. Senior first baseman Ashley Jacobson set the school record for walks in a season with 24 and career walks with 67.

2023: The Blue Devils finished the 2023 season 11-26 playing nine games against teams ranked in the top-25 poll. Stout just barely missed the WIAC tournament falling short on the last day of the season. Kaylee Peterson and Kayli Pfeffer were named 2023 softball honorable mention All-WIAC. Peterson started 18 of 20 games played, hit .261 with an on base percentage of .320 and two stolen bases. Pfeffer hit .343 with four doubles and three home runs.
 
2022: The Blue Devils doubled their wins total from the previous season under first-year coach Chris Iliopoulos. Senior outfielder Korin Hall and sophomore third baseman Kayli Pfeffer were first team all-conference picks and sophomore catcher Lexy Kupczak was honorable mention. Shannon Jones was the WIAC scholar-athlete and earned Academic All-District honors. 
 
2021: Shannon Jones was named All-WIAC
 
2020: The Blue Devils played four games before the season canceled due to COVID-19.
 
2019:  Kyncaide Diedrich earned first team all-conference and second team all-region honors. Junior outfielder Mary Iliopoulos started off the season on a national watch list and earned first team all-conference honors for the second consecutive year and was selected first team all-region
 
2018: The Blue Devils got off to the best start in school history, running out to a 10-1 overall start. The Blue Devils finished third in the WIAC regular season and in the conference tournament, coming up just short for an NCAA Division III tournament bid. Mary Iliopoulos, who played for the Greek National team last summer, and Kyncaide Diedrich earned all-district honors. Iliopoulos, who tied the school and conference record with a .500 batting average, was a first team All-WIAC pick along with pitcher Beth Wood. Rachel Thomas, Alicia Meyer and Melea Bruns were all-conference honorable mention selections. In addition to earning the conference Scholar-Athlete award, Wood was a second team Academic All-America choice.
 

PLAYING CAREER



Truman State University (2014-17) played both corner positions as well as a designated hitter. During his time at Truman, the team qualified for their first-ever bid to the NCAA Division II post-season tournament and an NCAA Division II World Series appearance. He started 84 of 95 games played with a .286 batting average and 432 slugging percentage.. He totaled 78 hits, 10 doubles, 10 home runs, 41 RBI and 43 walks.
Spoon River College (2012-14) played primarily third base and designated hitter. His sophomore year hit .293 with a slugging percentage on .520 over 45 games. 
 

PERSONAL



A Norridge, Ill. native, Iliopoulos received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Truman State in December, 2017, and completed his masters degree in Sports Administration from Bellhaven University in Mississippi in 2022.
