The 2023-24 season marks the third season for Patrick Keyes with the Blue Devils coaching the sprints and relays. He came to UW-Stout after six years as assistant coach for the University of St. Thomas Men's and Women's Track and Field teams, working with sprints, mid-distance, relays, and hurdlers. Keyes was also an assistant coach for four seasons with the Tommies' men's cross country team.

In 2022, Keyes coached Grace Mauer to a WIAC individual title in the indoor 400m and set a school record in the indoor 200m. Maurer earned second team all-WIAC honors in the outdoor 400m and advanced to the NCAA DIII National Meet in the event.

His efforts at St. Thomas have helped both track and field programs claim nine straight Indoor and Outdoor MIAC Championship team titles during his tenure. Men and women under his direction won 20 individual MIAC Championship titles and a combined 16 individual NCAA DIII Indoor and Outdoor Championship qualifiers. He coached nine athletes who went on secure NCAA DIII All-American awards: Katie Murray (2018 Indoor, 200m), Mallory Adamson (2019 Outdoor, 400mH), Eric Douville (2020 Indoor, 200m), Taynian Walgrave (2021 Outdoor, 100H), and the quartet of Delaney McLoone, Taynian Walgrave, Maddy Dolby, and Sarah Stellmach (2021 Outdoor, 4x100m Relay).

Keyes is a graduate of UW-Eau Claire and competed on the track & field team as a short hurdle specialist and multi-event athlete. At Eau Claire, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He then pursued his Master of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas in Leadership of Student Affairs. His master's capstone focused on the well-being and holistic development of student-athletes in college.

Keyes is a veteran triathlete. He continues to compete in triathlon with finishes at 2019 Ironman Wisconsin and 2021 Ironman Indiana.
