Quentin Ruff

Quentin Ruff begins his first season as an assistant coach for the UW-Stout men's basketball program in the 2018-19 season.

Following a successful junior college career, Ruff moved on to Ferris State University in Michigan where he was a second team All-GLIAC selection during his senior season. During his two years at Ferris, he helped contribute to back-to-back conference tournament championship, one regular season conference championship and two NCAA appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance. During his senior season, Ruff knocked down 88 3-pointers, third in the Ferris single-season all-time list and finished with 144 3-pointers for his two-year career. Ruff averaged 13.8 points during his senior season at Ferris.

Following his playing career at Ferris, Ruff was an assistant coach at Larkin High School in Elgin, Ill,, helping the team advance to the Illinois state tournament, finishing fourth, the school's highest state finish ever. 

Ruff averaged 18.4 points per game and shot nearly 50 percent from the floor his final season while leading Olive-Harvey College in Illinois to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Tournament. A first-team All-Region IV choice and all-tourney MVP for head coach Duval Richardson, Ruff led his squad in scoring and was ranked as the national leader of all NJCAA Division 1, 2 and 3 schools with 134 made three-pointers.

A well-rounded player, Ruff also averaged four rebounds, three assists and two steals per game in 2014-15 as Olive-Harvey posted a 26-10 overall record and won a conference championship.

A two-time City Colleges of Chicago Player of the Week honoree, he played high school basketball at Larkin High School in Elgin for head coach Deryn Carter and was a two-time all-area and all-conference choice who led his team to a regional championship.

Ruff received his bachelor's degree in 2017 from Ferris State in Integrated Studies.
