Greg Bryant begins his first year as a UW-Stout assistant coach after five years at NCAA Division II Fort Hayes State University and will work primarily with the Blue Devils’ defensive run game. During his tenure at Fort Hayes State, located in Fort Hayes, Kansas, Bryant was the Tigers’ defensive coordinator in 2010 and also served as the primary coach of the defensive line. While at Fort Hays State, he has coached four defensive lineman to All-MIAA honors (Albert Rodriguez in 2006 and 2007, Jason Hill in 2007, Ty Brunswig in 2007 & 2008, Jacob Crossman in 2009), two of which were two-time recipients; and one Daktronics All-Region honoree (Jason Hill 2007). In addition to his defensive coordinator responsibilities at Fort Hayes, Bryant was the strength and conditioning coordinator. Bryant came to the program from Western Michigan University, where he played football for two years, starting as a defensive tackle and nose guard. Prior to his time at Western Michigan, Bryant played two years of junior college football at Merced College, where he was named team captain and earned All-Valley Conference honors. In 2008, he received his master’s degree in Health and Human Performance from Fort Hays State University after completing work on a bachelor’s degree in Student Integrated Curriculum with an emphasis in Physical Education at Western Michigan University in 2006. Bryant is a native of Edmond, Okla., where he attended Santa Fe High School.
