Ryan Christenson joined the Blue Devil coaching staff as an assistant in February of 2019 and will begin his fifth season with the Blue Devils in 2023.
Prior to coming to UW-Stout, Christenson was the Head Baseball Coach for the Ellsworth Panthers (Ellsworth, WI) for two seasons. In 2018, Christenson led the Panthers to the WIAA State High School Tournament where they lost to the eventual division two champions.
Christenson previously served as an assistant coach for Ellsworth before his time as the head coach. As an assistant coach, Christenson’s primary role was to lead the pitching staff. During his tenure in that position, he helped the team finish as the 2012 State Runner-Ups and another appearance in 2013. Christenson coached many strong pitching staffs, but 2015 stood out statistically with the team finishing with a 20-2 record, 0.99 earn run average and 0.80 walks and hits per inning.
Coach Christenson recently accepted a role to be the Pitching Coach for the Genesee Rapids in the New York Collegiate Baseball League during the summer of 2019. The Rapids make their home in Houghton, NY.
Christenson played one year of collegiate baseball at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls prior to the program being cut. In May of 2006, Christenson graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. He has teaching certifications in alternative education, physical education, health and adapted physical education.
Ryan Christenson earned his Masters in Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in October of 2017. He currently is an Alternative Education Teacher and resides in Ellsworth, WI with his wife Amy
