Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Kevin Ruechel, Jr, Pulaski, Wis. - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week
Kevin Ruechel won his first conference title, tossing the shot put a personal-best 57-feet, 10.25-inches, beating his nearest competition by 18 inches. Jackson Sheckler of UW-Oshkosh was second at 56-4. The throw earned Ruechel a No. 4 seed at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championship March 13-14.
Softball position player of the week
Korin Hall, OF, 5-4, So, Farmington, Minn. - WIAC/Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week
Korin Hall was very steady throughout the weekend openers as UW-Stout went 3-1 in Rosemont, Ill. The Blue Devils defeated Lake Forest College, 10-8 in eight innings, and Buena Vista University, 6-4, March 7. The following day, Stout again defeated Buena Vista, 7-1, before dropping their last game, 9-7, to the University of Chicago. Hall was 3 for 3 with an RBI against Lake Forest, was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI against Buena Vista and was 2 for 4 with a run in the second game against Buena Vista. Overall, Hall batted .583, going 7 of 12 with three runs scored and two RBI. She posted an OPS of 1.158. She was perfect in the outfield in eight chances.

Women's basketball player of the week
Shannan Watkins, G, 5-7, Sr, Hoover, Ala.
Shannan Watkins scored the tying basket in regulation to send the game with UW-Stevens Point into overtime Feb. 19, then in the extra period, after Stout had taken a 72-71 lead late in the game, Watkins stole the ball to seal the win in Stout's fourth overtime contest of the season. In a 65-56 loss to UW-Whitewater, Feb. 22, Watkins finished with a game-high 20 points and added seven rebounds and two steals. On the week, Watkins averaged 13.5 points, 7.0 rebounds. 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals.
Men's basketball player of the week
Luke Geiger, G, 6-2, 175, Jr, Burlington, Wis.
Luke Geiger averaged 20.5 points over two games last weeks, along with 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and had one steal, but it was a big steal that sealed the Blue Devils' 84-82 win over UW-Whitewater, Feb. 22. After Josh Mericle extended Stout lead to two points with six seconds remaining against the Warhawks, Geiger stole the ball to seal the win. Geiger scored 15 points in a loss to UW-Stevens Point and had 26 points in the win over Whitewater, hitting 7 of 17 from the floor, 4 of 10 from 3-point range and 8 of 8 from the line. For the week, Geiger was 12 of 14 from the free throw line.

Shadae Boone, Jr, Maple Grove, Minn. (Park Center)
Shadae Boone came only 0.025 points short of her own school record as she placed fourth on the vault in a dual meet with NCAA Division II Lindenwood University Feb. 23. Boone scored her best score of the season on the vault, scoring a 9.800. Boone also scored a 9.650 on the floor exercise, her top score on the season on the event.
Gymnastics all-arounder of the week
Brooke Terry, Sr, Erie, Colo. (Monarch) - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week and WIAC/Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week
Brooke Terry won the all-around with a score of 37.850 in a dual meet with NCAA Division II Lindenwood University, Feb. 23. Terry scored a personal-best on the uneven bars with a 9.650 to place fourth. Terry scored a 9.550 on the balance beam and a 9.550 on the floor exercise.

Kevin Ruechel won the shot put at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge with a throw of 17.16m (56'3.75"). He currently ranks first in the conference and fourth in the nation.

Brent Heilman, Jr, West Salem, Wis.
Brent Heilman won the 200-meter dash at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge with a time of 22.22. That time ranks third in the conference and 15
th in the NCAA Division III. He also finished fifth in the 60-meter with a time of 7.02.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Mackenzie Huber, Fr, Colby, Wis.
Mackenzie Huber finished second in the shot put and sixth in the weight throw at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge with marks of 13.80m (45'3.5") and 15.82m (51'11"). Both marks were UW-Stout freshman records and her throw in the shot ranks second in the conference and ninth in the nation.
Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Caitlin Harrison, Fr, Shakopee, Minn.
Caitlin Harrison finish fourth in the 60-hurdles at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Challenge with a time of 9.41 second. This time was a UW-Stout freshman record and currently ranks 16
th in the conference.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Cody Urban, RHP, 6-4, 185, So, Deerbrook, Wis. (Antigo)
Cody Urban opened the 2020 season by starting and picking up a win in the first game of the season as UW-Stout defeated Wilmington, Ohio, University, 5-0, Feb. 22, in Carbondale, Ill. Urban went six complete innings to get the shared shutout with Ethan Kjellberg, who picked up the save. Urban struck out five as he scattered four hits and allowed two walks. Urban did not allow a runner past second base.
Baseball Position Player of the Week
Charlie Szykowny, SS, 6-3, 200, So, Palo Heights, Ill. (Alan B. Shepard) - WIAC Position Player of the Week
Charlie Szykowny had a solid opening weekend, going 7 of 12 (.583) with a double and three triples as UW-Stout went 2-1 on the weekend, downing Wilmington, Ohio, College, 5-0, and Blackburn College, 11-4, Feb. 22. Stout dropped a 10-6 decision to 21
st-ranked North Central College, Feb. 23. Szykowny scored two runs and drove in four runs. He posted a slugging percentage of 1.167 and an on-base percentage of .583 for an OPS of 1.750. Szykowny was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a double and a triple against Wilmington and was 3 for 5 with two RBI against Blackburn. He was 2 for 3 with two triples against North Central.

Amber Fabeck, F, 6-3, Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn. (Park)
Amber Fabeck averaged 13.0 points over two games last week. Fabeck connected on two 3-pointers in each of the games last week. She also averaged 7.0 rebounds and finished with two assists and a steal.
Men's basketball player of the week
TYreese Alexander, F, 6-5, 180, Jr, Pontiac, Mich. (Oxford)
TYreese Alexander scored a game-high 20 points, shooting 10 of 14 from the field against UW-Oshkosh, Feb. 15. For the week over two games, Alexander scored 32 points (16.0 pts/g), shooting 14 of 25 (.560), had 12 rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Hockey player of the week
Brennan Kitchen, G, 6-0, 165, Fr, Utopia, Ontario (Athens District)
Brennan Kitchen recorded his second shutout of the season as UW-Stout wrapped up the regular season with a 1-0 win over UW-Superior, Feb. 15. Kitchen recorded 35 saves in the win to run his season total to 459 with a save percentage of .907.

Belle Ihde, Sr, Andover, Minn. (Anoka) - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week and WIAC/Kwik Trip Specialist of the Week
Belle Ihde won two individual events to lead UW-Stout to a 187.125-173.800 over Gustavus Adolphus College Feb. 13. Ihde captured the uneven bars with a score of 9.450 and the floor exercise with a season-best 9.650. Ihde's floor score was her second-best all-time score on the event, just 0.100 short of her personal record.

Brooke Terry, Sr, Erie, Colo. (Monarch)
Brooke Terry won the all-around with a score of 37.550 as UW-Stout took a 187.125-173.800 over Gustavus Adolphus College Feb. 13. Terry was second on the floor exercise (9.600), second on the balance beam (9.275), third on the uneven bars (9.325) and third on the vault (9.350).

Kevin Ruechel won the shot put over 31 throwers at the St. Thomas Showcase Feb. 14 with a throw of 55-feet, 2-inches (16.81m). Ruechel currently ranks first in the WIAC and fourth in the nation.

Brent Heilman, Jr, West Salem, Wis.
Brent Heilman finished second in the 200m dash at the St. Thomas Showcase Feb. 14 with a time of 22.35. That time ranks fifth in the WIAC and 28
th in the nation. Heilman also finished second in the 60m dash - but first among all NCAA Division III runners - with a time of 7.04 seconds.
Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Heather Beecher, Sr, Gladwin, Mich.
Heather Beecher won the St. Thomas Showcase Feb. 14 in the pole vault with a jump of 12-feet, 2.75-inches (3.73m). That vault extended her lead in the conference and ranks 14
th in the nation.

Women's basketball player of the week
Amber Fabeck, F, 6-3, Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn. (Park)
Amber Fabeck hit a 3-pointer to open up the overtime period against UW-Platteville, Feb. 8, and UW-Stout went on a 7-0 run to open the extra period on their way to a 76-70 win over the Pioneers. In the game with the Pioneers, Fabeck scored 16 points, recorded five rebounds and three blocked shots. In a 73-57 win over UW-River Falls Feb. 5, Fabeck scored 17 points, had six rebounds, one assist and one blocked shot. On the week, Fabeck averaged 28 minutes played, 16.5 points (33 total), 5.5 rebounds (11) and 2.0 blocked shots (4).

Shadae Boone won the vault with a season-best score of 9.750 in a dual with UW-La Crosse, Feb. 7. Boone also finished third in the uneven bars (9.350) and fifth in the floor exercise (9.400).

Noah Zastrow, Jr, Spencer, Wis. - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week, WIAC/Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week, USTFCCCA Athlete of the Week
Noah Zastrow won the pole vault at the UW-Stevens Point Big Dawg Invitational Feb. 8 with a vault of 17-feet, 3-inches (5.26m). That vault broke a 10-year-old school record and ranks first in the NCAA Division III by more than 10 inches.

Morgan Denton won the weight throw at the UW-Stevens Point Big Dawg Invitational with a throw of 54-feet, 3.75-inches (16.55m) That throw ranks fifth in the WIAC and 24th in the NCAA Division III.

Katie Christopherson, G, 5-6, Fr, Mindoro, Wis. (Melrose-Mindoro)
Katie Christopherson scored a career-best 26 points in an 83-80 double overtime loss to UW-Eai Claire Jan. 29. Christopherson connected on 9 of 15 shots from the floor (.600), including 5 of 9 3-pointers (.556) and made three free throws. She also had four rebounds.

Shadae Boone won the vault in a 188.800-187.625 dual win over UW-Whitewater, Feb. 1, with a score of 9.750, her best score of the season so far. Boone, who last season won the NCGA vault championship, did not break 9.70 until the seventh meet of last season. Boone also finished sixth on the floor exercise (9.575) and 10
th on the bars (8.550)

Brooke Terry handily won the all-around competition as UW-Stout defeated UW-Whitewater, 188.800-187.625, Feb. 1, winning the event by one point with a score of 38.225 and increased her score by one point over her last outing. The mark is only .050 short of her career-best. Terry finished first on the balance beam (9.675), was third on the vault with a career-best score of 9.625, fifth on the uneven bars (9.400) and seventh on the floor exercise (9.525). Terry has increased her score every meet this season and has jumped up nearly three points in the all-around from Week One when she scored 35.975.

Noah Noah Zastrow won the pole vault at the Warren Bowlus Invite with a vault of 16-feetm 8.75-inches (5.10m). The vault currently ranks first in both the WIAC and the NCAA Division III.

Brent Heilman, Jr, West Salem, Wis. - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week
Brent Heilman won the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash at the Warren Bowlus Open, Feb. 1, with times of 6.98 and 22.52 respectively. In the 60m, Heilman is tied for sixth in the WIAC and tied for 21
st in the NCAA Division III. In the 200m he currently ranks fifth in the conference and 25
th in the nation. Heilman's 60m time is currently fifth on the UW-Stout all-time list and his 200m time is tied for sixth.

Amber Fabeck averaged 11 points as UW-Stout went 0-2 last week. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds and had two blocked shots in each game.

Brennan Kitchen, G, 6-0, 165, Fr, Utopia, Ontario (Athens District) - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week / WIAC Athlete of the Week
Brennan Kitchen recorded two wins, including his first collegiate shutout, with wins of 7-2 and 4-0 over Northland College last week. Kitchen recorded 55 saves in the 4-0 win over the Lumberjacks, Jan. 25, in Ashland. Kitchen notched 33 saves in 7-2 win, Jan. 23 in Menomonie. Over the two games, Kitchen recorded 88 total saves, allowing two goals with a saves percentage of .978 and a goals against average of 1.00, playing 120 minutes.

Mikala Bugge led UW-Stout as the Blue Devils took the top five places in the floor exercise in the Blue Devils' 187.55-181.00 win over Winona State, Jan. 24. Bugge scored a 9.75 on the floor to lead the Blue Devils. Bugge also finished second on the vault (9.50) and fifth on the balance beam (9.55).

Noah Zastrow won the pole vault at the season-opening UW-Stout Open by almost 18 inches, finishing with a first place leap of 16-feet, 6.75-inches (5.05m) that is currently the top height in both the WIAC and the NCAA Division III, beating his own indoor career best of 16-5.50.

In UW-Stout's season opener, Heather Beecher won the pole vault at the UW-Stout Open with a height of 11-feet, 7.75-inches (3.55m), winning the event by six inches. The mark is currently second in the WIAC and 15

Amber Fabeck, F, 6-3, Sr, Cottage Grove, Minn. (Park)
Amber Fabeck led all scorers with 18 points in only 21 minutes as UW-Stout defeated UW-River Falls, 86-59, Jan. 15. Fabeck was 7 of 9 from the floor and included a 3-pointer in her only attempt and made all three free throw attempts. She pulled down six rebounds. In a 72-56 loss to UW-Whitewater, Jan. 18, Fabeck scored 11 points and had two rebounds, along with a steal. On the week, she tallied 29 points, was 11 of 21 from the floor, 1 of 3 from 3-point range and 5 of 5 from the line. She finished with eight total rebounds.

TYreese Alexander, F, 6-5, 180, Jr, Pontiac, Mich. (Oxford) - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week
TYreese Alexander scored a career-best 21 points in a loss to UW-River Falls, Jan. 15, then scored his first career double-double in a one-point loss to UW-Whitewater, Jan. 18, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Against the Warhawks, Stout trailed by as much as 10 points midway through the second half when Alexander helped to spark a comeback. In the final 10 minutes of the game, Alexander scored four points, had an assist, two steals and six rebounds, including a defensive rebound off a missed free throw with 10 seconds left that gave Stout a chance to win the game. For the week, Alexander scored 35 points, shooting 15 of 22 from the floor, 5 of 7 from the line, had 16 rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and two steals. Alexander has scored in double digits in every conference game so far this season.

Mikala Bugge finished first on the floor exercise with a score of 9.600 at a triangular meet at UW-Oshkosh along with UW-Whitewater Jan. 17 in the Blue Devils' season opener.

Women's basketball players of the week
Katie Christopherson, G, 5-6, Fr, Mindoro, Wis. (Melrose-Mindoro)
Freshman Katie Christopherson scored a collegiate-best 15 points and played a big role in UW-Stout's 77-71 double overtime win at UW-Oshkosh Jan. 11. In the game, Christopherson shot 4 of 10 from the field, including one 3-pointer, 6 of 8 from the line, recorded five rebounds, seven assists and three steals. In the first overtime after Stout fell behind by eight points, Christopherson pulled Stout to within six on a layup, then had the assist on the tying shot by fellow freshman Lindsey Johnson. Stout quickly built a lead in the second overtime and Christopherson had two free throws. In a 64-59 loss to UW-Eau Claire on Jan. 8, Christopherson finished with 10 points, one rebound, one assist and one steal. For the week, Christopherson tallied 25 total points, was 8 of 20 from the field, 3 of 12 from 3-point range, 6 of 8 from the line, had six rebounds, eight assists and four steals.
Lindsey Johnson, G, 5-9, Fr, Menomonie, Wis.
Freshman Lindsey Johnson played a huge role in UW-Stout's double overtime 77-71 win over UW-Oshkosh. In regulation after Amber Fabeck pulled Stout to within 52-46 with 2:07 remaining in regulation, Johnson hit a pair of 3-pointers to tie the score, dropping a 3-pointer with 1:08 left to pull to within three points, then drained a 3-pointer with 14 seconds remaining to tie the score, then send it into overtime. In the first overtime, with Stout trailing and less than a minute remaining, Johnson recorded a steal and seconds later Katie Christopherson pulled Stout to within 63-57. Johnson recorded another steal. Johnson recorded an assist on Liz Oswald's 3-pointer to pull Stout to within three points, then for the second time in the night tied the game with 14 seconds left on a 3-pointer to send the game into the second overtime. In the second overtime, Johnson with Stout leading by three points, Johnson rebounded her own missed free throw and laid the ball in for a five-point lead. Johnson added another free throw and finished the game with a collegiate-high 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. In a 64-59 loss to UW-Eau Claire Jan. 8, Johnson finished with five points, six rebounds and two steals.
Men's basketball player of the week
Jon Ciriacks, F, 6-6, 235, Jr, East Troy, Wis.
Jon Ciriacks twice scored 20-plus points as UW-Stout split a pair of conference games. In an 80-79 win over UW-Eau Claire, Jan. 8, Ciriacks scored 23 points, 20 points in the second half as Stout came back from a 39-31 halftime deficit. For the game, Ciriacks was 7 of 11 from the floor, 4 of 5 from 3-point range and 5 of 5 from the line. Ciracks scored 25 points in an 83-69 loss to UW-Oshkosh, Jan. 11. Ciriacks was 10 of 19 from the floor, 3 of 7 from 3-point range and 2 of 2 from the line and had nine rebounds. For the week, Ciriacks was 17 of 30 from the field, 7 of 12 from 3-point range and 7 of 7 from the line. On the week, Ciriacks had 12 total rebounds.
Hockey player of the week
Konnar Dechaine, F, 6-1, 185, Jr, Lac La Biche, Alberta (JA Williams) - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week
Konnar Dechaine scored three goals and an assist over the weekend, putting UW-Stout within one goal each night for a chance to win the game. In a 3-2 overtime win at Bethel University, Jan. 10, with Bethel leading 2-0 in the third period, Dechaine scored at 6:51 to cut the lead in half, setting the stage for a dramatic comeback. With 29 seconds left in the game, Dechaine had the primary assist to Adam Kresl's game-tying goal. Stout's Raphael Gosselin scored at 1:56 in the overtime period. In a similar situation the next night, Stout was down 3-0 in the third period when Dechaine scored two goals to pull Stout to within 3-2. Dechaine scored at 4:14 of the third, then added a goal at 16:13 to get the game to 3-2 against Hamline University. The Pipers put the game away with an empty net goal. For the season, Dechaine has six goals and four assists.

Shannan Watkins, G, 5-8, Sr, Hoover, Ala. - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week
Shannan Watkins helped to lead the Blue Devils to a 4-0 record over the last two-plus weeks. Watkins proved to be a factor in each of the games, if not by points, then by rebounds or assists. The Blue Devils closed out the first semester of play with a 78-61 win over the University of Dubuque, Dec. 20. Watkins, playing in 21 minutes, scored seven points, pulled down eight rebounds and dished off six assists. During a trip to the Naples, Fla., Shootout, Stout defeated Salisbury University, 72-63, and Husson University, 88-47. Against Salisbury, Watkins scored 18 points - including going 6 for 6 from the line - had three rebounds and three assists. The following day over Husson, Watkins scored 20 on 8 of 10 shooting - hitting her first six attempts of the day, including 3 of 3 from beyond the arc - and had two rebounds. In a conference opening 65-41 win over UW-Platteville, Jan. 4, Watkins led all players with a season-high 11 rebounds and added four points and an assist. Over the four games, Watkins averaged 12.3 points (49 total points), averaged 6.0 rebounds (24 total), and collected 13 assists, one blocked shot and four steals. She shot 18 of 36 (.500) from the floor, 3 of 9 (.333) from 3-point range and 10 of 14 (.714) from the line.

Jon Ciriacks, F, 6-6, 235, Jr, East Troy, Wis.
Jon Ciriacks was named to the all-tournament team at the Nicolet National Bank Holiday Tournament hosted by St. Norbert, Dec. 29-30 after averaging 16.5 points and 6.0 rebounds. The Blue Devils defeated Edgewood College 94-91 in the opener as Ciriacks scored 25 points on 9 of 18 shooting (.500), hitting 3 of 6 (.500) 3-pointers and 4 of 5 (.800) free throws, to go along with four assists. The following night, the Blue Devil junior forward scored eight points and had eight rebounds in an 81-53 championship game loss to host St. Norbert College. On Dec. 20, Ciriacks had nine points and five rebounds in a x loss to the University of Dubuque. In a conference opening 89-67 loss to ninth-ranked UW-Platteville, Jan. 4, Ciriacks scored eight points and had nine rebounds. Over the course of the four games, Ciriacks averaged 12.5 points (50 total) and 6.0 rebounds (24 total). He also had five total assists, two blocked shots and three steals.

Shannan Watkins scored 23 points, 15 in the second half, as UW-Stout defeated Viterbo University, 67-62, Dec. 14. With Stout trailing 29-27 at halftime, Watkins scored seven points in the third quarter, including tying the score at 29, then minutes later scoring a go-ahead basket. After the V-Hawks tied the game in the fourth quarter, Watkins scored four consecutive points to give Stout a lead they would not relinquish. Watkins scored eight points in the final stanza, scoring on her only field goal attempt and all six free throw attempts. Watkins also pulled down five fourth quarter rebounds, handed off two assists and a steal. Watkins finished the afternoon hitting 5 of 12 from the floor, 13 of 15 from the line, had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals. Earlier in the week, Watkins scored 10 points, had nine rebounds, four assists and a steal in an 80-56 loss to sixth ranked Wartburg College. On the week, Watkins finished with 33, hitting 9 of 25 from the floor, 2 of 7 from 3-point range and 13 of 15 free throws. She collected 17 rebounds, nine assists and four steals.

Luke Geiger scored 30 points as UW-Stout took an 81-66 win over Northland College, Dec. 11. Geiger shot a solid 11 of 15 from the floor (73.3 percent), 4 of 6 from 3-point range (66.7) and 4 of 5 from the line (80.0). Geiger also had four rebounds, an assist and a steal. In the first three minutes of play, Geiger made two free throws, recorded a steal which he turned into a 3-pointer and had a rebound as Stout jumped out to a 9-2 lead. Geiger scored 20 points in the first half. Geiger played nine minutes in the second half and scored 10 points.

Logan Nelson scored two goals in each this past weekend as the Blue Devils split a pair of conference games, falling 6-3, to UW-Stevens Point, Dec. 6, and coming back for a 4-2 win over UW-Superior, Dec. 7. Against the Yellowjackets, Nelson scored the second of two Blue Devil first period goals to give Stout a 2-0 lead at the first break. After the Yellowjackets tied the lead in the second period, Nelson scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal. After the Pointers took a 3-0 lead, Nelson scored his first goal of the season at the 13:05 mark of the second period to put Stout on the board and 50 second later Stout pulled to within 3-2. After the Pointers stretched the lead to 5-2, Nelson scored on the power play late in the second period. For the season, Nelson has a team-best four goals, with one power play goals, and has one assist.

Shannan Watkins notched her first career double-double in a 55-47 win over the University of Northwestern, Nov. 26. Watkins finished the night with 12 points and 10 rebounds, as well as six assists and three steals. For the season, Watkins is averaging 13.0 point, 5.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.2 steals.

Jon Ciriacks, F, 6-6, 235, Jr, East Troy, Wis. - UW-Stout Athlete of the Week
Jon Ciriacks established a new career-high when he scored 35 points in a 103-99 loss to Bethany Lutheran, Nov. 26, then scored 16 points in a 95-71 loss to Alma College, Nov. 30. In an exhibition loss to NCAA Division II Saginaw Valley State, Ciracks led Stout with 15 points. In the two games against Division III opponents, Ciriacks tallied 51 total points, hitting 14-37 from the floor, 7-13 from 3-point range and 16-21 from the line. He totaled 10 rebounds. In scoring 35 points against Bethany Lutheran, Ciriacks connected on 10-27 shots from the floor, 4-8 from beyond the arc and 11-13 from the line. For the season, Ciriacks is averaging 21.8 points and has scored at least 14 points in all six games.

Freshman Haylee Yaeger has been getting acclimated with college life and broke out with an 18-point game and pulled down six rebounds in an 88-67 UW-Stout win over St. Scholastica Nov. 23. Coming off the bench, Yaeger scored 12 points in the second half and had four rebounds. For the game, Yaeger was 8-of-10 from the field and made two free throws. In a 76-61 win over Luther College, Nov. 19, Yaeger was 3-of-3 from the floor and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. She recorded four rebounds and had an assist, a blocked shot and two steals. Over the two games last week, Yaeger was 11-of-13 from the floor (.846) and 5-of-6 from the line (.833). She tallied 10 rebounds, had an assist, a blocked shot and three steals.

Cliff McCray, G, 6-1, 180, Fr, Madison, Wis. (West)
Freshman Cliff McCray came off the bench to lead UW-Stout to their highest point total in a single game in more than two decades, scoring a game-high and collegiate-best 19 points as the Blue Devils defeated Finlandia University, 111-73, Nov. 24. McCray was 7-of-11 from the floor, hitting 3-of-5 3-pointers and going 2-of-3 from the free throw line. McCray also pulled down a collegiate-best seven rebounds and had two assists and three steals. With the score tied at 12-12, McCray helped kickstart an 18-0 run when he scored five points in the run.

Sean Borgerding threw for five touchdown passes - a feat that has only been accomplished by three other UW-Stout quarterbacks - in a 45-17 win over UW-Eau Claire Nov. 16. Borgerding had TD passes of 22 yards, five yards, nine yards, 17 yards and two yards. Borgerding was 17-of-28 for 239 yards, with no interceptions, the eighth time this season he has thrown for more than 200 yards in a single game. Borgerding led touchdown scoring drives of 8 plays, 70 yards; 2 plays, 85 yards; 4 plays, 68 yards; 8 plays, 67 yards, 2 plays, 18 yards; and 6 plays, 28 yards.
Kevion McDonald, WR, 6-1, 205, Sr, Hopkins, Minn.
Kevion McDonald broke off a 78-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to give UW-Stout a 14-3 lead over UW-Eau Claire Saturday. The run was McDonald's longest play from scrimmage throughout his four year career. McDonald had a 77-yard pass play in 2017.

Jed Schlegel recorded three interceptions and all three came at timely spots in a 45-17 win over UW-Eau Claire Saturday. With Stout leading 14-3 and Eau Claire threatening late in the second period, Schlegel picked off his first pass of the game a yard deep in the end zone and returned it 32 yards with 39 second left before halftime. Four plays later, Stout scored to make it 21-3. On Eau Claire's next drive, with 11 seconds remaining, Schlegel picked off a Hail Mary pass on the Stout 3-yard line. Schlegel's third interception came after Eau Claire scored twice to pull to within two scores and had the momentum going. Schlegel intercepted his third pass of the game on the Eau Claire 18 and two plays later, Stout scored to make the score 38-17. Schlegel finished the game with five tackles, four of them solo. Schlegel finished the season with five interception, which ties for the lead in the conference. Schlegel finished the season with 84 tackles, 50 solo, good for third in the league.

Luke Wilz recorded 10 tackles and was in on both Blue Devil sacks.
Special team player of the week
Alec Benzinger, K/P, 6-1, 245, Jr, Waukesha, Wis. (Mukwonago)
Alec Benzinger made all six extra point attempts and converted a 44-yard field goal in UW-Stout's 45-17 win over UW-Eau Claire Saturday. Benzinger averaged 47.0 yards on five punts, pinning two punts within the 20-yard line, including a season-long 69-yard punt. Only one punt was returned and that return was called back due to penalty. Benzinger had punts of 44 yards (-2 yd return, kick to EC 32), 50 yards (15 yd return, kick to EC 25), 69 yards (touchback), 35 yards (downed, kick to EC 31) and 37 yards (fair catch, kick to EC 9). Benzinger finished the season with a punting average of 39.9, good for first in the league. He made 9-of-14 field goals and 28-of-31 extra points.

Shannan Watkins was named to the St. Norbert College Tip-Off all-tournament team after scoring a career-best 27 points in the opening game 84-75 loss to eventual tournament champion Illinois Wesleyan Nov. 15. Watkins recorded a career-best nine rebounds in the contest, playing all 40 minutes, and had five steals. In an 82-50 win over St. Norbert College the following afternoon, Watkins scored nine points and had three assists, playing only 21 minutes after Stout took a 45-22 halftime lead. On the weekend, Watkins scored 36 points, shooting 12-28 (.429) from the floor and 12-17 (.706) from the free throw line. She finished with 10 rebounds, eight assists and six steals.

Luke Geiger helped to propel UW-Stout in a pair of comebacks, one that fell short, 92-90, to Concordia-Moorhead, Nov. 13, and one that gave Stout their first win of the season, a 97-94 overtime win at Lakeland University, Nov. 16. Against Concordia, Geiger scored a career-best 31 points, scoring 23 points in the second half. Geiger shot 10-of-21 from the floor, with two 3-pointers, and drained 9-of-11 free throws. Stout trailed by as much as 18 points midway through the second half, and Geiger pulled Stout to within five points on a layup with 44 seconds remaining, then stole the ball. After Stout got within two points with 1.9 seconds remaining, Geiger threw up a ball from past half court and hit the top of the backboard. Against Lakeland, Geiger scored 27 points, with 10 of those points coming in the final 2:35 of regulation when Stout trailed 79-67 to tie the game, at 83 all, then scored seven of Stout's 14 points in overtime. Geiger was 10-19 from the floor and 7-8 from the line. For the week, Geiger averaged 29 points, was 20-40 (.500) from the floor, 2-12 (.167) from 3-point range and 16-19 (.842) from the line. He collected 12 rebounds, six assists, two blocked shots and four steals.

Parker Fossum caught six passes for a career-best 87 yards and one touchdown as UW-Stout lost 37-17 to UW-Whitewater Nov. 9. Fossum had a 28-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter, his second TD of the season, to pull Stout to within one score.

Luke Wilz finished with six total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble in UW-Stout's loss to UW-Whitewater, Nov. 9. With Whitewater threatening and holding a 10-3 lead, Wilz forced a fumble on 3-and-6 at the Stout 30 late in the second quarter that was recovered by Dylan Peterson.

Dylan Peterson blocked a UW-Whitewater punt in the first quarter that accounted for a 33-yard loss for the Warhawks to give Stout the ball on the Whitewater 23. Stout converted the block into a field goal to tie the score.

Liz Oswald made four free throws down the stretch to help hold off UW-Superior in a UW-Stout 72-68 win over the Yellowjackets in the season-opener Nov. 8 at Johnson Fieldhouse. With a one point, 66-65 Stout lead with 22 seconds remaining, Oswald hit two free throws to stretch the lead to three points, as close as Superior would get. Oswald finished with a team-high 13 points, hitting three 3-pointers and four free throws. Oswald also had two rebounds and three assists.

Brittany Staab earned first team all-WIAC honors when she finished sixth at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Cross Country Championship (presented by Culver's) at Cole Acres Golf Course. Staab last year had been named to the Midwest all-region cross country team, but today the Blue Devil senior earned her first all-conference cross country honor in a time of 23-minutes, 48.5-seconds on the 6-kilometer course. Staab was also selected to the All-Sportsmanship team.

Football offensive player of the week
Sean Borgerding, QB, 6-2, 215, So, Spring Valley, Wis.
Sean Borgerding threw for 233 yards and three TDs and rushed for 41 yards and ran for what would prove to be the game-winning score in a 30-24 win over UW-River Falls Nov. 2. With the score tied at 24-24 midway through the fourth quarter, Borgerding led a 13-play, 8-minute, 70-yard drive for the winning score. With 2:15 left on the clock, Borgerding ran the final two yards for the score. Borgerding also engineered an almost 10-minute drive in the third quarter that took 16 plays and went 65 yards, culminating in a 7-yard TD pass to Parker Fossum. Borgerding completed 25 of 40 passes for 233 yards and threw two 25-yard TD passes to Levy Hamer and the 7-yard pass to Fossum. Borgerding carried the ball 24 times for 51 yards and one TD.

Cannon Griner sealed a 30-24 win over UW-River Falls Nov. 2 when he picked off a pass over his shoulder at the Stout 30-yard line with less than two minutes left in the game, his first collegiate interception. Griner finished the game with tackles, four solo, with three pass break-ups and one tackle for a loss of four yards.

Lydia Kneubuehl wrapped up a very nice freshman season with 13 kills in a 3-2 loss to Minn-Morris and five kills in a 3-0 loss at UW-La Crosse. Kneubuehl finished the year averaging 2.45 kills per contest and 272 total kills.

Steph Cannon, L, 5-9, Sr, Mora, Minn.
Steph Cannon recorded 21 digs in a 3-2 loss to Minn-Morris, Nov. 1, then closed out her career with 20 digs in a 3-0 loss at UW-La Crosse, Nov. 2. Cannon finished the season with a league-best 668 digs, seven less than her single season record of 675 from last season.

Spencer Schultz paced UW-Stout to a second-place team finish at the WIAC Men's Cross Country Championship by placing fifth in a time of 26-minutes, 24.8-seconds. As a freshman last season, Schultz placed 31

Quarterback Sean Borgerding rushed for a career-best 149 yards and ran for a touchdown to tie the game in regulation and threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner in the second overtime as UW-Stout downed UW-Stevens Point 38-31. Borgerding led two scoring drives in the first quarter, going 77 yards in nine plays, hitting John Smoczynski for a 6-yard score, then led a 40-yard drive in 11 plays and found Smocynski for a four-yard score. After Stevens Point went ahead with 4:45 left in regulation, Borgerding connected with Kevion McDonald for 39 yards to the Stevens Point 10 then, following a sack, Borgerding ran for an 11-yard score, leaping into the end zone and with the extra point, Stout tied the score. After both teams came up empty in the first overtime, Borgerding took advantage of a free play when Stevens Point was flagged for offside and Borgerding lofted the ball 16 yards to Tyler Seymour for what would prove to be the game-winning score.

Mason Olson recorded nine tackles, three solo, with three tackles for loss and was in on two sacks. In one series that ended the third quarter and ran into the fourth quarter, Olson was in on four tackles. Perhaps Olson's biggest play of the game came in the first overtime when he made an 8-yard shoestring sack on 1
st-and-20. Two plays later, Stout intercepted the ball to end the Pointers' first overtime threat.

After playing defense for the majority of the season, Sarah Dickman returned to the midfield on Senior Day and scored her first goal of the season, a breakaway up the middle in the sixth minute in a 2-0 win over Minnesota-Morris Oct. 27. Dickmann had eight shots on the day, including five on goal.

She finished the week with 22 digs in a 3-1 win over Carroll University, Oct. 26. Cannon averaged 6.79 digs per set. Cannon also had eight total assists over the 14 sets.

For the second week in a row, Sean Borgerding collected a 300-plus yard passing game. This week, Borgerding completed 21-of-38 passes for 334 yards and matched a career-best by passing for four TDs, including a 61-yard strike to Levy Hamer to open the second half in an eventual 33-27 loss at UW-Platteville. Borgerding connected twice for scores with Tyler Seymour, first a 23-yard scoring play in the first quarter and a 9-yard pass play in the third quarter. Borgerding hit Kevion McDonald with a 15-yard pass to pull Stout to within the final six point.
Tyler Seymour, WR, 6-3, 220, So, Duluth, Minn. (East)
Tyler Seymour hauled in four passes for a season-best 85 yards and scored two touchdowns in a 33-27 loss at UW-Platteville Oct. 19. Seymour had TD receptions of 23 yards in the first quarter and 9 yards in the third quarter. Seymour also threw a 45-yard pass to Levy Hamer to set up his 9-yard score on the next play.

Aaron Wisecup recorded three sacks among his six solo tackles in the Blue Devils' 33-27 loss at UW-Platteville Oct. 19. The Blue Devil senior defensive lineman recorded a sack in each of the final three periods, including one in the fourth period on 3
rd-and-15, which in turn set up Stout's final TD of the game. Wisecup also recorded another tackle for a loss of a Platteville running back.

Sammy Krugel netted her first collegiate goal in exciting fashion as the sophomore scored the game-winner in overtime to lift the Blue Devils to a 1-0 win at UW-Platteville Oct. 29. Krugel took a cross from Rachel Washington pushed ball into the net to give Stout their first conference win of the season.

Claudia Anderson, GK, 5-6, So, North Branch, Minn.
Over two games last week, Claudia Anderson allowed one goal and recorded one shutout and made a total of 16 saves over the two games. In a 1-0 loss to St. Scholastica, Oct. 15, Anderson had six saves, then pitched a shutout in a 1-0 overtime win at UW-Platteville by recording 10 saves. Anderson leads the WIAC in saves.

Mike Friedman set a personal best with a seventh-place finish of 452 runners at the Kollege Town Sports Invitational at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Oct. 19. Friedman recorded a time of 25-minutes, 7.9-seconds, taking off nearly 45 seconds from last year's time. Friedman last year finished 32nd in a time of 25:51.6 on the same course.

Levy Hamer hauled in a career-best 10 passes for a career-best 189 yards and one TD in a loss at UW-La Crosse, Oct. 12. Hamer caught six passes for 107 yards in the fourth quarter alone and for the game, had five receptions of 20 yards or more (36, 20, 23, 20, 28).

On the second day of the Washington University Baden Invitational, Kara Simonson led UW-Stout on the attack in both games. In a 3-1 win over Lakeland University, Simonson laid down eight kills and an attack percentage of .312, then increased that in a 3-0 win over the University of Dallas with nine kills and an attack average of .667. Simonson had five kills in a 3-0 win over Fontbonne University to open the invitational and had four kills in a 3-2 win over UW-Eau Claire, Oct. 9. Simonson had 26 kills over 15 sets (1.73 k/set) on the week and added a block solo and four block assists. Simonson was selected to the Washington University Baden Invitational All-Tournament team. In 10 sets, Simonson finished at .439 hit % (22 kills, 4 errors, 41 total attempts); 2.20 kills/set; 4 total blocks (1 solo, 3 block assists)

Steph Cannon had a season-best 39 digs in a 3-2 win at No. 22 UW-Eau Claire Oct. 9 and finished the week with 93 digs over 15 sets as the Blue Devils went 4-0 on the week. Cannon also had four service aces against the Blugolds and finished the week with seven service aces. In a 3-0 win over Fontbonne University, Cannon had 20 digs. In a 3-1 win over Lakeland University, Cannon had 20 digs and in a 3-0 win over the University of Dallas she had 14 digs. Cannon currently has 507 digs for the season and is averaging a league-best 5.83 digs per set. Cannon was selected to the Washington University Baden Invitational all-tournament team. Levy Hamer pulled in four passes for 88 yards and one TD as UW-Stout's comeback against UW-Oshkosh came up just three points short in a 26-23 loss Oct. 5. Trailing 16-0, Hamer set up his TD with a 34-yard grab and two plays later caught an over the shoulder 34-yard pass in the back of the end zone to put the Blue Devils on the board. Hamer also had two kickoff returns for 71 yards.

Ran for a touchdown, threw for another in the Blue Devils' 26-23 loss to UW-Oshkosh Oct. 5 in the WIAC opener. Completed 11 of 29 passes for 207 yards and ran for 41 yards on 13 carries.

UW-Stout kicker/punter Alec Benzinger was 3-for-3 in field goals, 2-for-2 in extra points and averaged 41.3 yards per punt over six kicks. Benzinger booted field goals of 28-, 35- and 32-yards. Benzinger had one punt inside the 20 and one touchback on punts of 37-, 37-, 55-, 36-, 40- and 43-yards.

Trystin Kluess, Sr, Greenleaf, Wis. (Fox Valley Lutheran) - UW-Stout/Toppers Athlete of the Week
Trystin Kluess captured medalist honors at the 2019 WIAC Women's Golf Championship, becoming the second Blue Devil to win the honor. Kluess entered the final round in third place but played the round of her collegiate career, scoring a 72. Put together with her first two rounds of 78-76, Kluess finished with a three-round score of 226 to earn a decisive four-stroke win. Kluess is the second golfer in Blue Devil program history to claim the top spot, joining Brittney McNett-Emmerich. Kluess posted a 72 over the final 18 holes for the second-best 18-hole score in championship history. Kluess was also selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Men's cross country athlete of the week
Spencer Schultz, So, Rosemount, Minn.
Spencer Schultz ran a 46-second personal best when they finished fourth at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational Oct. 4. Schultz clocked a time of 25-minutes, 14.0-seconds, more than a minute less than his time from the same race last season. Last year, Schultz placed 68th in a time of 26:34.8 in the 2018 version of the meet.

Josh Nitek rushed for a career-best 90 yards on 20 carries, averaging 4.5 yards per carry in UW-Stout's 29-21 win over California Lutheran College, Sept. 28. Nitek came off the bench and rushed for 12 yards on his first carry of the game for a first down on first-and-10. Nitek set up Stout's final TD of the game to keep the Kingsmen at bay, rushing for 33 yards on four consecutive carries down to the California Lutheran 5. The Blue Devils scored on a 5-yard pass on the next play. Nitek's previous best collegiate day was 53 yards rushing on 15 carries.
Auqueith Bradshaw, RB, 5-11, 200, Sr, Daytona Beach, Fla. (Seabreeze)
Auqueith Bradshaw scored his first TD as a Blue Devil and carried the ball 11 times for 56 yards.
Football defensive player of the week
Kierre Rhodes, CB, 5-9, 185, Sr, St. Paul, Minn. (Johnson)
Kierre Rhodes finished the game with six solo tackles, one pass break-up and forced a fumble that would one play later would turn into a safety in a Stout 29-21 win at California Lutheran University, Sept. 28. Rhodes forced a fumble on the CLU27 that was recovered by Cal Lutheran on their own 10. On the next play, CLU was called for illegal touching while attempting to pass in the end zone and the Blue Devils were awarded the safety. Rhodes broke up a pass early in the game on a 3-and-14, forcing a punt. The Blue Devils would use the ensuing drive to score a field goal.

Special team player of the week
Alec Benzinger, K/P, 6-1, 245, Jr, Waukesha, Wis. (Mukwonago) - WIAC/Kwik Trip Special Teams Athlete of the Week & Toppers Athlete of the Week
UW-Stout kicker/punter Alec Benzinger had a career-day in a 29-21 win at California Lutheran University, Sept. 28. Benzinger was 3-for-3 in extra points, was 2-for-3 in field goals and averaged 38.0 yards on four punts. Benzinger booted a 22-yard field goal to put Stout up 10-0 late in the first period. He was just short on a 52-yard field goal attempt as time wound down in the first half, then kicked a career-best 36-yard field at 14:59 of the fourth quarter to give Stout a 22-7 lead. Benzinger averaged 38.0 yards per punt, pinning one punt inside the 20, and getting off a career-best 56-yard punt to the CLU 21. On Benzinger's final punt of the day, he booted the ball to the CLU 9 and, with a six yard return, the Kingsmen were on their own 15 with about two minutes left in the game. Four plays later, the Kingsmen turned the ball over on a strip-sack by Scott Gustafson to preserve Stout's win.

Lexie Nelson recorded 15 kills and 20 assists as the Blue Devils downed the University of Dubuque, 3-1, Sept. 27 and had six kills and 16 assists in a 3-1 loss to UW-Stevens Point, Sept. 25. Nelson also had two service aces, 15 digs and three block assists against the Pointers and three aces and eight digs against Dubuque. Nelson fined the week with 21 kills (2.62 k/set), 36 assists (4.50 a/set), five service aces (0.62/set) and 23 digs (2.88/set).

Steph Cannon recorded 24 digs in a 3-1 loss to UW-Stevens Point, Sept. 25, and 31 digs in a 3-1 win over the University of Dubuque, Sept. 27. Cannon averaged 6.88 digs per set and upped her season total to a league-best 380 digs. (5.85/digs). Cannon added a pair of service aces against Dubuque.
Tennis doubles athletes of the week

Lauren Couves and Elizabeth Wentzel captured Stout's lone win against NCAA Division II Bemidji State Sept. 28. Couves and Wentzel took an 8-5 win over Ariadna Lopez-Simo and Laney Rutkowski. Couves and Wentzel went 2-1 on the week, easily downing St. Thomas' Helen Watkins and Sarah Gustafson, 8-1, Sept. 25. The pair's only loss on the week came to St. Benedict, 8-5, Sept. 28. Overall, the duo is 4-3 on the season, all at No. 1 doubles.

Trystin Kluess led Stout for the third consecutive week, this time taking medalist honors for the first time in her collegiate career, winning the UW-Stout Blue Devil Fall Invitational Sept. 28 at Whitetail Golf Club. Kluess scored a 77 to lead five Blue Devils to finish in the top 10 spots. As a team, the Blue Devils won the event.

Ariel Kuchta scored a goal and had an assist on the game-winning-goal in UW-Stout's 3-2 win over Cornell College, Sept. 21. After Stout had tied the game in the 20
th minute, Kuchta took a pass from Megan Richardson and broke the tie in the 23
rd minute. Cornell knotted the game in the 56
th minute, but Kuchta passed to Marissa Steele for the game-winning-goal in the 63
rd minute. For Kuchta it was her second goal of the season and the first time collegiately she has scored a goal and an assist in the same game.
Volleyball offensive player of the week
McKylie Hoff, MH, 5-9, Sr, Barron, Wis. (Prairie Farm)
Kylie Hoff averaged 2.0 kills per set as UW-Stout went 3-1 over the week. Hoff had 11 kills in a 3-2 conference loss to UW-Platteville and the middle hitter hit .333 in the match. At the UW-Stevens Point Tournament, Sept. 20-21, Hoff recorded eight kills in a 3-0 win over North Park, four kills in a 3-0 win over MSOE and five kills in a 3-0 win over Millikin University. Hoff had a hitting percentage of .295 over the week. Hoff was selected to the UW-Stevens Point all-tournament team.

In a 3-2 loss against UW-Platteville, Sept. 17, Cannon recorded 23 digs. At the UW-Stevens Point Tournament, Sept. 20-21, Cannon had 12 digs in a 3-0 win over North Park University, 17 in a 3-0 win over MSOE and 14 digs in a 3-0 win over Millikin University.Hoff was selected to the UW-Stevens Point all-tournament team. For the season, Cannon has 313 digs and is averaging 5.80 per set.

Trystin Kluess led Stout for the second consecutive week, this time finishing seventh at the St. Catherine Invitational at The Wilds in Prior Lake, Minn., Sept. 21-22. Kluess scored a 78-79 - 157. For the season, Kluess is posting a stroke average of 78.17, more than two strokes less than last season.

Hamer had receptions of 8, 19, 57, 10, 3, 9, 11 and 21 yards in the 41-31 loss to the Gusties.

Jessica DuVal was named to the all-tournament team at the Bethel University Invitational, Sept. 13-14, after tallying 108 assists while playing as a setter in the Blue Devils' 6-2 formation. DuVal had 31 assists vs. St. Olaf, 19 vs. Bethel, 31 vs. Luther College and 27 vs. Minnesota-Morris. Stout went 1-3 at the Bethel Tournament, getting a win over Luther College. DuVal had 19 assists in a 3-0 non-conference win over Hamline University, Sept. 11. DuVal finished the week with 127 assists and had 48 digs.

Steph Cannon finished with 130 digs over five matches last week, averaging 6.90 digs per set. She recorded at least 20 digs in all five matches, including a high of 33 against Luther College (Iowa). Her totals included 20 digs against Hamline University (Minn.), 31 against St. Olaf College (Minn.), 22 against Bethel University (Minn.) and 24 against University of Minnesota-Morris.
Tennis singles athlete of the week

Mariah Kent, playing at No. 5 singles, opened her match with the UW-River Falls' Abbie Reed with a 6-4 win. But Reed battled back to knot the match at one set apiece with a 6-3 win. Kent returned the favor in the third set with a 6-3 win as Stout dropped a 6-3 decision to the Falcons Sept. 15.

Lauren Couves found wins at No. 1 doubles with partner
Elizabeth Wentzel and at No. 2 singles. Couves and Wentzel took an 8-6 win in doubles over Isabella Kranz and Olivia Watke. Couves dispatched Watke at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0.
Women's golf athlete of the week

Trystin Kluess shot a career-best 72 on the second day of the D3 Midwest Classic Sunday at Emerald Greens in Hastings, Minn., and finished 11
th overall in the meet. Kluess hit an 83 on the first day of the meet but shot four birdies on the second day to finish with the personal-best mark. Her previous best mark was a 74, set in 2017 at The Jewel Golf Club.

Luke Wilz collected his first collegiate interception on St. John's University first drive of the season, picking off the ball on second and eight on the St. John's 37 and returned the ball four yards. Wilz was active all afternoon, collecting 11 total tackles, three solo and one tackle for loss. Wilz also picked up a blocked field goal attempt and returned it five yards.
Special teams player of the week
Scott Gustafson, DL, 6-1, 230, So, Victoria, Minn. (Chanhassen)
Scott Gustafson blocked an attempted fourth quarter 38-yard field goal by St. John's University to keep the game a one touchdown game. Gustafson came up the middle and got an arm on the ball that was recovered by Luke Wilz. Defensively, Gustafson recorded two first half sacks that kept third-ranked St. John's off the scoreboard in the first half. The Johnnies eventually took a 14-7 win.

Claudia Anderson kept UW-Stout in the game by recording 24 saves in a 3-1 loss at St. Olaf College, Sept. 5. With the exception of a five-minute stretch, Anderson did not allow a goal against the Oles. Anderson allowed one first half goal and turned away eight shots in a 1-0 loss to Bethel University, Sept. 7.

Lydia Kneubuehl had a career-day Sept. 7 as UW-Stout ran their record to 7-0, their best start since the 2004 season, by recording 20 kills in a 3-0 win over Oswego State and 11 kills in a 3-0 win over Lawrence University. On the first day of the UW-Oshkosh tournament, Kneubuehl recorded 10 kills in a 3-1 win against Wisconsin Lutheran, and six in a 3-0 win over Carroll University. To open the week, Kneubuehl had six kills in a 3-0 win over St. Mary's, Sept. 4. Over the course of the week over five matches, Kneubuehl recorded 53 kills (3.31 k/s), hit .439, had two solo blocks and eight assisted blocks. Kneubuehl was selected to the all-tournament team.

Madison McCambridge tallied the third-best two-round score in school history when she scored a 72 on the first day and a 77 on the second day for a 149 at the Wartburg College Fall Invitational, Sept. 7-8, at Prairie Links Golf Course. McCambridge tied for 10
th of 107 golfers. Of the four rounds McCambridge has played this season, all four rounds have been 78 or lower. She is averaging a 75.3 stroke average this season.

Mike Friedman led from start to finish as the senior cruised to a first-place finish by more than a minute at the UW-River Falls Invitational Sept. 6. The Blue Devils scored a perfect team score of 15 by placing nine runners in the top 10 at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course. Friedman's time of 25-minutes, 49.9-seconds was 13 seconds better than his first race of the 2018 season and more than 30 seconds than the last time he ran at Kilkarney in 2017.

Brittany Staab captured a 32-second win at the UW-River Falls Invitational at Kilkarney Hills Golf Course Sept. 6 and was not seriously challenged throughout the race. Staab finished in a time of 23-minutes, 26.8-seconds, almost 45 seconds better (24:11.8) than her season-opening run last year at Kilkarney Hills Golf Club.

Rachel Washington scored a goal and two assists to lead UW-Stout to a 3-1 win over Ripon College Aug. 31 in River Falls as the Blue Devils bounced back from a season-opening loss a day earlier. Washington put the Blue Devils on the board in the sixth minute, then added an assist on Hannah Kirchner's goal in the 22
nd minute, then, after Ripon pulled to within one goal, helped to seal the win with an assist to freshman Rachel Younker in the 60
th minute.

Playing as a setter in a 6-2 formation, Nelson tallied 11 kills and 14 assists in a 25-10, 27-25, 25-10 win over Carleton College and 16 kills and 13 assists in a 25-14, 25-19, 32-30 win over Lakeland University.

Steph Cannon was strong at the service line, recording three aces in a 3-0 sweep of Carleton College and added another in a 3-0 win over Lakeland University Aug. 31 at the UW-Whitewater Tournament. Cannon recorded 21 digs over Lakeland and seven against Carleton.

Elizabeth Wentzel, Fr, Stevens Point, Wis. (SPASH)
Freshman Elizabeth Wentzel earned a win at No. 3 singles in her collegiate debut as Wentzel fought back to record a 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 win over Barbara Covek of UW-Stevens Point Aug. 31. Wentzel also teamed with fellow freshman Lauren Couves at No. 1 doubles for a win.

Freshmen Elizabeth Wentzel Lauren Couves earned a win at No. 1 doubles win in both of their first collegiate match, downing UW-Stevens Point's Jenna Koepp and Nancy Cozzi 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Wentzel earned a win at No. 3 singles and Couves earned a default win at No. 2 singles as the Blue Devils dropped a 6-3 loss to the Pointers, Aug. 31

In UW-Stout's season opener in the Carthage College Battle on the Border, Madison McCambridge tied for medalist honors. McCambridge finished with a 152, scoring a first-round best 74 and marked a 78 on day two.
