Stout Scores Twice in Second Half to Draw Central

PELLA, Iowa — The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic played to a 2-2 tie against Central College on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils tallied both goals in the second half and held Central scoreless after halftime despite being outshot 18-9 overall.

Central scored the first goal at 5:20 through Lucas De la Cuba after an early corner kick. Stout responded with corner kicks at 6:37 and 9:52. Central generated the next run of chances, including a save by Puglisi on Nick DeVoss at 11:40, before DeVoss scored at 19:47 to make it 2-0. The Blue Devils put a shot on frame at 22:32 when Logan Bergien forced a save from Morgan Finkenbinder, but Central pressed again later in the half with multiple shots between 27:59 and 30:44 that Puglisi kept out. The half ended with Central ahead 2-0.

The Blue Devils cut into Central's lead early in the second half when Thayer scored off a Lowery assist at 47:55, making it 2-1. Central generated pressure from 60:41 to 66:14 with two corners and three shots, but Stout kept the margin at one. White tied the match at 2-2 at 67:17, and Stout followed with five shots and three corner kicks from 72:50 to 76:59, including saved attempts by Bergien and Max Meeh. Central had a late corner and four shots after 82:19, while UW-Stout played through two late yellow cards, and the match finished tied 2-2.
