ROCHESTER, Minn. (Feb. 28, 2026) – The UW-Stout softball team split a pair of non-conference games at the Rochester Dome on Saturday, cruising to an 11-4 victory over St. Catherine in the opener before falling 8-6 in a marathon 14-inning battle against Carleton in game two.
Game 1: UW-Stout 11, St. Catherine 4
UW-Stout exploded for 10 runs over the middle innings to pull away from St. Catherine, securing an 11-4 win in the first game of the day.
The Blue Devils struck first in the top of the first when Stephanie Khun drove in
Rayni Bresnahan with an RBI single. St. Kate's scored three in the bottom of the third to take a 3-1 lead.
Stout broke the game open in the fourth, plating six runs on five hits.
Stephanie Kuhn delivered the big blow with a grand slam—her first home run of the season—to cap the inning and give Stout a commanding 7-3 lead.
Stout added a run in the fifth when
Donna D'Addabbo singled to center to drive in
Adi Singer.
Stout plated three more runs in the sixth.
Elly Holden singled in
Sarah Wilkins.
MacyJean Cain hit a sac fly to score
Katie Monroe and
Payton Dolecki drove in Holden with an RBI ground out.
Kuhn was the offensive star for Stout, going 3-for-4 with a double, homer, five RBIs, and a run scored.
Sarah Wilkins added two hits and a run, while D'Addabbo contributed a hit, two RBIs, and a run. Bresnahan scored twice on two hits.
On the mound,
Sarah Wilkins earned the win (3-2), tossing 3.2 innings and allowing one run on one hit with five strikeouts.
Game 2: Carleton 8, UW-Stout 6 (14 innings)
In a grueling extra-inning affair that lasted 3.5 hours, Carleton outlasted UW-Stout 8-6 in 14 innings, handing the Blue Devils their third loss of the season.
The game was a pitcher's duel early, with both teams combining for just two runs through seven innings. Carleton took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI single, but Stout answered in the bottom of the fourth on an

The Knights scored in the top of the eighth and Stout was able to answer with a
Sarah Wilkins RBI single to center to score
Emma Fortier.
The game remained scoreless until the top of the 11
th when Carleton was able to push a run across. Stout again answered when
Elly Holden drove in Stephanie Khun to tie the game at three. The teams traded single runs in the 12th and 13th innings to enter the 14
th knotted at 5-5.
In the top of the 14th, Carleton's Jade Thach delivered the decisive blow with a three-run homer to push the Knights ahead 8-5. Stout managed one run in the bottom half on an RBI single from Dolecki but couldn't complete the comeback.
Holden had two hits and an RBI and a run scored,
Payton Dolecki contributed two RBIs on two hits.
Sarah Wilkins took the tough-luck loss (3-3) in relief, allowing eight runs, two earned, and striking out 11 over 11.2 innings in the circle.
UW-Stout returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 1, with games at the Rochester Dome against Luther College and Buena Vista University.
