No. 15 Stout Blanks Beloit 5–0

MENOMONIE, Wis. – The 15th-ranked University of Wisconsin–Stout men's hockey team continued its strong season Friday night, blanking Beloit College 5–0 in game one of a two-game home series at the Fanetti Community Center.

Sophomore goaltender Dawson Green was rock solid between the pipes, turning aside every shot he faced to earn the shutout as Stout controlled play from start to finish. Offensively, Nicolas Pigeon powered the Blue Devils attack with a goal and two assists, while special teams once again proved to be a difference-maker.

Stout broke through late in the first period after applying consistent pressure. Arhip Sidarovich opened the scoring at 15:41, finishing a slick move with a backhand to the far side to put the Blue Devils on the board. Just under two minutes later, Tristan Therrien doubled the lead when he ripped a shot from the faceoff dot that beat the Beloit netminder clean, sending Stout into the intermission up 2–0.

The Blue Devils wasted little time extending the lead in the second. Early in the frame, Pigeon put together the highlight of the night, weaving through traffic in the offensive zone before sliding a finish past the goalie to make it 3–0.

Stout's power play then took over. With Sidarovich quarterbacking the unit, he found Hayden Stocks wide open on the far side of the zone. Stocks made no mistake, blasting home a one-timer to push the advantage to four.

The final tally came in the third period, again on the man advantage. Stocks returned the favor, threading a pass backdoor to Noah Tyrrell, who tapped it home to cap the scoring and seal the 5–0 victory.

Strong defensive structure and disciplined special teams play limited Beloit's chances all night, as Stout went a perfect 2-for-4 on the power play and killed off all three Beloit opportunities.
