EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Stout Blue Devils swept a doubleheader against UW-Eau Claire on April 5, 2025, at Carson Park. Stout secured a tightly contested 5-3 victory in Game 1 before erupting for a commanding 17-6 eight inning win in Game 2.
Kevin Zanin etched his name in the record books in the second game, setting a new UW-Stout single-game record with five stolen bases.

Game 1: UW-Stout 5, UW-Eau Claire 3
Stout opened the day with a hard-fought win, relying on timely hitting and solid pitching. After four scoreless innings,
AJ Kargel sparked the fifth with a single, stole second, and scored on a
Jack Redwine single for a 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils broke it open in the sixth, plating three runs.
Kevin Zanin singled and stole second, paving the way for
Billy Jones and
Leyten Bowers to load the bases.
Justin Sedin's two-run single gave Stout a 3-0 lead. Bowers scored on a wild pitch to push the lead to 4-0.
Drew Buss held the Blugolds hitless through five innings. Eau Claire was able to score two runs in the sixth, capitalizing on a pair of hits and a walk. Buss held firm, striking out eight over six innings to earn the win (1-2). The teams traded runs in the seventh, with Redwine launching a solo home run for Stout.
Nick Van Beek and
Quintin Gonzalez closed out the game in relief, with Gonzalez securing the final three outs for the save Stout finished with nine hits, led by Redwine (2-for-4, 2 RBI) and
Justin Schnell (2-for-3).

Game 2: UW-Stout 17, UW-Eau Claire 6
Game two was a showcase of Stout's offensive firepower and speed, with 17 runs on 12 hits, including four home runs.
Kevin Zanin stole the spotlight, swiping a school-record five bases, surpassing the previous mark of four, held by six other Blue Devils. Â The Blue Devils jumped ahead 2-0 in the first on a
Leyten Bowers RBI and a
Justin Sedin homer. After Eau Claire tied it at 3-3, Stout responded with two runs in the third and an eight-run fifth, fueled by Bowers' three-run homer and Sedin's second blast of the game.
Zanin finished 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, his five steals—including two in the seventh—highlighting Stout's aggressive baserunning.
Justin Sedin went 3-for-4 with two homers and three RBI, while Bowers (1-for-5, 4 RBI) and
AJ Kargel (1-for-3, HR) also went deep.
Billy Jones doubled, scored three times, and stole four bases.
Luke Sedin earned the win, the first of his career, pitching two innings and allowing two runs.
The Blue Devils improved to 4-12 while dropping Eau Claire to 6-11.
The Blue Devils and Blugolds will play another double header tomorrow, Sunday, April 6. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. at Carson Park.Â
