EAU CLAIRE (April 26, 2025) – The UW-Stout women's tennis team wrapped up its spring season with a doubleheader at the Menard Tennis Center and Regis High School, splitting matches against Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) and UW-Superior.
In the morning match, the Blue Devils (5-16) came out strong and secured a 4-3 victory over MSOE. Stout swept doubles play with dominant performances: Ellie Becker and Ella Lamppa won 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, Ashlyn Dellemann and Molly Garber earned a 6-3 win at No. 2, and Aspen Johnson and Odessa Barreyro matched with a 6-3 decision at No. 3.
Carrying that momentum into singles, Lindsay Leuzinger was the first off the court, cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles to put Stout up 2-0. Shortly after, Ella Lamppa claimed a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles to make it 3-0. Ashlyn Dellemann then clinched the team victory with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles, giving the Blue Devils a 4-0 lead. Although MSOE rallied to win the final three matches, the overall result was already secured for Stout.
In the afternoon session against UW-Superior, the Blue Devils fell 6-1, but had a standout performance from Odessa Barreyro at No. 6 singles. After taking the first set 7-5 and dropping the second 3-6, Barreyro showed impressive poise and sharp net play in the super tiebreak, finishing points aggressively to claim a 10-6 win. At 9-6 in the tiebreaker, Barreyro hit a blistering ace down the T to end both the day, and the Blue Devils 2024-2025 season on a high note.
