Blue Devils Blow Open Fourth Quarter to Defeat UW-Superior, 65–40

SUPERIOR, Wis. — UW-Stout turned a one-point game into a rout on Saturday afternoon, unleashing a dominant 20–0 run to open the fourth quarter on the way to a 65–40 win over UW-Superior at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium.

The Blue Devils led 37–36 entering the final frame, but their defensive pressure reached another level. Stout forced 12 fourth-quarter turnovers, part of 30 total Yellowjacket giveaways on the day, and converted nearly every mistake into momentum the other way. Stout outscored Superior 28–4 in the final ten minutes.

Julia Rybacki jump-started the run with a jumper on the first possession of the quarter, and Addy Verhagen and Mary Berg piled on with fast-break finishes as Stout's pressure suffocated the Yellowjackets. Verhagen led the charge with 15 points, Berg added 14, and Rybacki chipped in 12 off the bench.

Brooklynn Birt delivered another strong interior performance with 10 points and seven boards, while Rosella Wille was steady on both ends with five points, five assists and four steals.

Emily Coonrod sunk two free throws against her former team in the waning seconds of the game to put an exclamation mark on the Blue Devil Victory.

With the win, the Blue Devils improve to 6–2 on the season.
