OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stout men's basketball team returned from the holiday break on Monday night but fell 70–57 to Lawrence in a non-conference matchup in Oshkosh.
The Vikings used a strong opening half to build separation, shooting 45.2 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes to take a 37–22 lead into halftime. UW-Stout battled throughout the second half and outscored Lawrence 35–33 after the break, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.
Collin Vick led the Blue Devils offensively with a season-high 12 points while also pulling down eight rebounds. Tyrel Creger finished with a game-high 15 points, knocking down three three-pointers, while Wesley Mboga added nine points and six rebounds.
UW-Stout found success at the free-throw line, shooting 90.9 percent (10-of-11), and won the rebounding battle on the offensive glass with 12 offensive boards. Nolan Stauffacher provided a spark off the bench, scoring seven points and grabbing three rebounds, while Aidan Shore contributed six rebounds and three blocks.
Lawrence was paced by Casey Schoenecker's 18 points and balanced scoring throughout the lineup, finishing the night shooting 47.3 percent from the floor.
The game marked UW-Stout's final non-conference contest of the season as the Blue Devils now turn their attention to WIAC play.
