SAINT PAUL, Minn. — A dominant second quarter and a balanced scoring effort lifted the UW–Stout women's basketball team to a 69–56 road victory over Hamline University on Tuesday evening at Hutton Arena. The win moves the Blue Devils to 4–2 on the season.
After a cold first quarter, Stout erupted for 31 points in the second frame, flipping a four-point deficit into an 11-point halftime advantage. The Blue Devils shot an impressive 77.8% from the field in the quarter and knocked down all four of their three-point attempts to seize control.
Mary Berg and Addy Verhagen each delivered 13 points, with Berg hitting four threes and Verhagen adding a game-high eight rebounds and four assists. Rosella Wille chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds, while Brooklynn Birt and Olivia Johnson each added 8 points as part of a strong team performance that saw 10 different Blue Devils score.
Stout's defensive pressure also made an impact—Stout forced 15 Hamline turnovers and converted them into 25 points on the other end.
Hamline was paced by Camille Cummings' 11 points, but the Pipers shot just 32.7% from the field and were held to 11 fourth-quarter points as Stout closed out the win.
