MENOMONIE – The UW-Stout football team will compete in the fifth annual Culver's Isthmus Bowl on Saturday, Nov. 22. The Blue Devils will take on Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) at 2 p.m. at Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium at Ashley Field in Sun Prairie, Wis.
Stout finished the regular season 5-5 overall and 3-4 in WIAC play and will face WashU, which enters the game at 8-2 overall and 7-2 in the CCIW. The programs will meet for the first time, with Stout making its second consecutive Isthmus Bowl appearance and WashU making its third.
The bowl game features the top teams from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) that did not qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship. The Blue Devils tied for fifth place in the WIAC with UW-Oshkosh and earned the Isthmus Bowl bid by holding the head-to-head tiebreaker after a 27-16 win over the Titans earlier this season. The Bears finished third in the CCIW standings.
Stout is the third different WIAC program to participate in the Isthmus Bowl. UW-River Falls faced WashU in both 2021 and 2022, winning each matchup. UW-Platteville defeated Augustana in 2023, and Stout fell to Wheaton (Ill.) last November in the 2024 Isthmus Bowl.
