MENOMONIE (October 15, 2025) - The UW-Stout volleyball team beat UW-Stevens Point 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-17, 25-19) Wednesday night at Johnson Fieldhouse, snapping a 19-match losing streak with the victory.
Junior
Kyra Giffen led the way for Stout, hammering down 15 kills on an impressive .483 hitting percentage while adding three block assists.
Brooke McCune contributed a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs, and
Brynn Hessel added five kills and a match-high six total blocks as Stout dominated the net defensively with nine team blocks.
Setter duo
Lainey Todd and
Nadia Marchionda efficiently ran the offense, distributing 18 and 20 assists, respectively, while
Kailey Kline anchored the back row with 16 digs.
Emma Barton chipped in seven kills, one ace, and two block assists.
The Blue Devils (14-6, 1-3 WIAC) opened strong, taking a competitive first set 25-22 that featured 11 ties and four lead changes. The Pointers (13-9, 2-2 WIAC) evened the match with a 25-19 win in the second. Â Momentum swung back to the Blue Devils, who controlled the third from the start. Giffen and McCune each put down four kills while Hessel tallied three blocks as the Blue Devils closed on a 6-0 run to take the third 25-17. Stout closed the fourth hitting .500 with no errors. Giffen added four more kills and McCune added three more as Stout closed on a 11-6 run to win their first home match over the Pointers since 2005.
Stout hit .273 for the match while holding Stevens Point to just .188 and out blocked the Pointers 9-2.
UW-Stout will return to action Friday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Northfield, Minn. to face St. Olaf. First-serve from the Skoglund Center is set for 7 p.m.
