Amanda Giesen scored a career-high 33 points but turnovers and missed opportunities cost the Blue Devils as they fell in overtime to La Crosse Wednesday night. Stout shot 70 percent from the field in the first quarter, but eight turnovers allowed UWL to only trail by three after the opening 10 minutes. The Eagles went on a run in the second and led 32-30 at the break. Both teams shot the ball very well in the third quarter, combining for 50 points as UWL lead a four-point advantage after 30 minutes of play. Stout kept it close in the fourth but couldn't retake the lead. Stout trailed by five with 3:33, and four Giesen free-throws trimmed the lead to one. La Crosse scored to make it a three-point game and a driving layup by
Raegan Sorensen again pulled Stout within one with less than a minute remaining. Â
Lexi Wagner hit a three with 13 seconds left to tie the game at 70 and the Blue Devils got a stop with three seconds to play, but a turnover on the inbounds cost Stout a scoring opportunity and the game went to overtime. In the extra session another turnover gave UWL a four-point lead, but a four-point possession by Sorensen tied the game at 76 with 2:26 left to play. But the Blue Devils couldn't cash in on opportunities down the stretch and La Crosse escaped with the win.
