MENOMONIE - UW-Stout Men's Soccer made history Wednesday night as they captured the program's first-ever victory, defeating Northland College 3-1.
Northland College got out to an early 1-0 lead in the 12th minute, but the Blue Devils would respond in the 38th minute with an equalizer from Davis Arvold. Shortly after play resumed in the second half,
Thomas Brand broke the tie with a header in the 46
th minute. Stout would add the final tally of the game with a Davis Arvold header from a corner taken by
Jack Wasmund.
Max Kutz made four saves in the game, none more important than a big diving save in the 62nd minute to preserve the 3-1 lead. The Blue Devils controlled the pace of play for most of the second half and were able to maintain possession to close out the game.
Following this inaugural victory, the Blue Devils will be traveling to Edgewood College to take on the Eagles Sunday, Sept. 8, at 4 pm.
