OSHKOSH, Wis. – The UW-Stout softball fell to 12
th ranked No. 1 seed UW-Oshkosh 8-2 to end their run in the WIAC Softball Tournament Friday afternoon.
A first inning grand slam by Oshkosh jump started Titans to the 8-2 win and eliminate the Blue Devils from the conference tournament.
UWO loaded the bases with three singles in the top of the first, before hitting the grand slam to left center to take the 4-0 lead. The Titans had their fifth hit of the inning before Stout was able to retire the side to end the top half of the first.
Payton Deolecki doubled off the fence in center in the bottom of the inning but was left stranded at second.
Oshkosh added a run in the top of the second, with a one out double followed by an RBI single. The Titans loaded the bases, but
Mackensie Wolterstorff was able to pitch out of the jam with a fly out to center to end the threat and keep the deficit at 5-0.
Stout got a pair aboard in the bottom of the third, but they couldn't sustain the rally and left both base runners stranded.
Oshkosh able to add to their lead with runs in the fourth and fifth and sixth innings.
Wolterstorff led off the bottom of the fifth for the Blue Devils with a bunt single and advanced to second on a throwing error.
Ashley Jacobson reached on a infield single. Dolecki hit a two-out single up the middle to score Wolterstorff to put the Blue Devils on the board.
Donna D'Addabbo's fly ball to deep center was caught at the warning track to end the Blue Devil fifth.
Stout added another run the bottom of the seventh on a two out RBI single from Dolecki to make the final score 8-2.
Payton Dolecki was 3-4 with two RBI. Wolterstorff was 2-3 with a run scored and
Ashley Jacobson was 1-2 with two walks to add to her school record 24 walks in 2024 and bring her career record up to 67.
