MENOMONIE - The UW-Stout Lacrosse team fell 12-9 in the season finale to Hamline University Monday evening at Nelson Field.
Abigail Todey scored a career-high four goals as the Blue Devils late rally fell short in 12-9 loss to close the 2024 season.
Stout fell behind early as Hamline scored three goals in a 2:49 span. Abigal Today scored her fourth of the season to bring Stout within two at 3-1. Hamline scored two more goals a minute apart to take a 5-1 lead after the first quarter play.
Hamline scored early in the second to lead 6-1. Todey scored her second of the game and fifth of the year on a pass from Alison Zwettler to make the score 6-2. The Pipers scored the next two to close out the half and lead 8-2 at halftime.
Loryn Tornell scored her seventh of the season at 12:23 of the third. She added her second of the quarter six minutes later to bring the Blue Devils within four at 8-4. Hamline added one later in the third and scored the first two of the fourth to extend the lead to 11-4. Todey scored her third of the game for her first career hat trick with 7:35 left to play. Hamline scored their final goal of the game with 5:38 left to play.
Mai Nou Vang scored her 26th goal of the season with 4:20 left to bring Stout within six to start a late rally.
Ally Crymble scored her 22
nd goal of the season on a free position shot with 2:19 to play. A minute later, Todey scored her fourth of the game and seventh of the year on a pass from Vang with 1:17 to go. Crymble scored her second of the game with 41 seconds left in regulation to pull Stout withing three at 12-9. But the Blue Devils ran out of time to complete the comeback.
Hamline outshot Stout 37-30, won 15 of 23 draws and held a slight edge on ground balls 27-26. Both teams had 15 successful clear attempts.
