WHITEWATER, WIs. - UW-Stout's postseason run came to an end in the Sweet 16 Friday night at Kachel Gymnasium. The Blue Devils fell 63-58 to No. 2 Translyvania in the sectional semifinal.
A strong third quarter pushed Translyvania from a six point halftime deficit to four point lead heading into the fourth quarter. Stout rallied to tie the game three times in the final quarter. Pulling even at 53 with with2:38 left to play. Stout got a stop but was unable to find the go ahead bucket and fell behind by four. Stout fouled to prolong the game, but couldn't get any closer than four, thanks to an
Anna Mutch and-1 with 30 seconds left to play.
Raegan Sorensen scored a team-high 16 points and 12 rebounds for her 16th double-double of the season.
Anna Mutch scored 15 points and
Lexi Wagner added 10.
Amanda Giesen scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Stout was 9-27 shooting in the first half, but finished 22-66 for 33.3 percent.
Translyvania was 22-47 (46.8 percent) was 14-28 from the free-throw line and had nine blocked shots.
Stout led 13-12 after the first quarter, Wagner hit a triple with 36 seconds left to give the Blue Devils a lead. Stout kept the pressure on in the second and took a six point lead into the half. But Transy shot 64.3 percent in the third to retake the lead.
The Blue Devils out rebounded the Pioneers 42-32, but Transy controlled the paint out scoring Stout 32-22.
