ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Blue Devil baseball team opened the 2024 season with a 8-2 lost to Crown College Friday morning at Reynolds Field.
A five run third inning for the Polars propelled them to a 8-2 season opening win. Crown struck first in the top of the first on a RBI double.
Tucker Beving then struck out the next two batters to get out of the early jam. Stout got the first two batters aboard to start the bottom half of the inning. But they couldn't push a run a across as the Polars struck out the next three Stout batters.
After a scoreless second, a couple of errors put the first two Polars aboard and the following batter hit a two run homer to right to give Crown a 3-0 lead.. Stout struggled to get outs and Crown scored five runs in the inning
Crown got a solo shot to center field to extend the lead to 7-0 n the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the inning,
Nolan Harke walked and
Drew Ries doubled to the gap in left center.
Justin Schnell then singled to right to drive in Stout's first run of the season. But Stout couldn't get another one and trailed 7-1
Jacoby Endreas hit an RBI single in the seventh but couldn't get a hit to keep the rally alive.

The Blue Devils will be back in action on Sunday, March 10 when they open the Russmatt Central Florida Invitational against Minnesota-Morris in Davenport, Fla.
