MENOMONIE- UW-Stout women's basketball will play Washington University in St. Louis in the first round of the 2024 DIII Women's Basketball Championship on Friday, March 1 in Waukesha, Wis.
The 2024 DIII women's Basketball Championship bracket was revealed Monday afternoon and the Blue Devils, who received the WIAC's auto bid into the tournament by defeating UW-Oshkosh 77-65 in the Tournament Championship will play WashU in the first round Friday night March 1, at 5:30 p.m. at the Van Male Fieldhouse.
This is the first time Stout has played in the national tournament since the 2006-07 season, and will be the third time Stout has faced WashU. The teams faced off last season in a neutral site game, that WashU won 61-57.
The winner of the Blue Devils, WashU game will play the winner of the Carroll University-Puget Sound game on Saturday, March 2 and 8 p.m.
Here is the schedule for the 2024 DIII women's basketball championship (subject to change):
- First-and-second round games will be played on March 1-2 from 16 on-campus sites
- The sectional rounds will be played on March 8-9 from four on-campus sites
- Semifinals and championship games will be played on March 14 and March 16 from Capital Center Performance Arena
The tournament will consist of four regions of 16 teams each. Regional play will be hosted by the top 16 national seeds in the tournament. 42 teams will qualify by earning an automatic bid as conference champions, 21 teams will earn at-large bids and one team will be selected from a group of conference champions that do not meet the requirements for automatic selection.
