MANKATO, Minn. - The Blue Devils split a pair of games to close out the Bethany Lutheran Invite. Topping Gustavus Adolphus 1-0 and dropping a 5-3 decision to Hamline.
GAME 1
Anna Blanford pitched 6.1 scoreless innings and
Abbey Dusterhoft drove in the only run in the top of the seventh to shut out the Golden Gusties 1-0.
Blanford scattered five hits and struck out seven to pick up her second win of the year.
Stephanie Kuhn led off the seventh with a double to center field.
Alyssa Albrecht moved her over to third on a sac bunt. Dusterhoft then singled through the left side to drive in the go-ahead run. Mackensie Wolterstorf worked out of a bases loaded jam to pick up her first save of the year.
GAME 2
Late scoring pushed Hamline past Stout 5-3 to close out the opening weekend.
Elly Holden singled down the left filed line in the bottom of the second to open the scoring.
Katelyn Belleau homered in the third to double the blue Devil lead. The score stayed the same until the top of the fifth when a couple of errors allowed Hamline score three and take a 3-2 lead. HU scored two more in the sixth to take a 5-2 lead. Albrecht hit a sac fly to get a run back but Stout was unable to push any more runs across.
Wolterstorff pitched 5.1 innings, giving upfour hits and two earned runs and striking out five.
UP NEXT
The Blue Devils will travel to St. Ann, Mo. on Saturday March 2, to play a doubleheader vs Fontbonne University. The first game is set to start at 12 p.m. with the second to start around 2 p.m.
