Box Score ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Blue Devils rallied in the third period to earn a 4-4 tie with Hamline University at TRIA Rink Saturday night.
UW-Stout (5-8-2) picked up a non-conference tie with Hamline (4-8-1) but fell 1-0 in the shootout.
Hamline got on the board first with a goal at the 9:31 mark of the opening period. They doubled the lead five and a half minutes later. Both teams tallied 11 shots on goal in the first.
Peyton Hart put the Blue Devils on the board when he gathered a blocked
Nicolas Pigeon shot and scored from behind the extended goal line five minutes into the second.
Hamline regained the two-goal lead at 8:49. 37 seconds later, Hart scored his second of the night redirecting a
Brandon Connett pass to bring Stout with one at 9:26.
Pigeon would tie the game at three with a power play tally at the 9:02 mark of the third. Hamline took a 4-3 lead with 5:12 left to play.
With the goalie pulled for the extra attacker and a Hamline player in the box, Hart won the face-off back to Pigeon who dished to Rallis in the high slot, who lasered a shot past the Hamline goalie for his first of the year to tie the game at four with 15 seconds left in the game.
Both teams had changes in the overtime period. Stout goalie
Tyler Masternak made a save on 2-0 break and the game would go to a "just for fun" shootout. Stout would go 0-3 and fall 1-0.
Masternak made 30 saves in the tie.
