MENOMONIE- The Blue Devil volleyball team won their home opener in four sets over Hamline to improve to 8-0.

The Blue Devils matched, the 2019 and 2004 teams with the best start to a season with a four set win over Hamline to improve to 8-0. The Blue Devils started fast, scoring the first three points. They used that momentum to build a 10-5 lead. the teams traded points and Stout held a 17-12 lead. The Blue Devils were able to hold Hamline to just four more points and take the first set 25-16. Hamline started the second set building a 5-1 lead. The Blue Devils rallied to take a 14-11 advantage and looked poised to take set two when leading 17-13. But Hamline rallied and took the second 25-23. Stout responded in the third with a quick 7-1 lead. Stout kept a comfortable lead through the third but a late run by the Pipers cut the lead down to two at 23-21, before Stout forced two attacking errors to take the set and lead 2-1. Leading 8-6, Stout used a 10-2 run midway through the set to take a 18-8 advantage. Hamline tried to rally, but two emphatic kills by
Sidney Hoverman ended the match and kept the Blue Devil perfect in 2023.
