LA CROSSE - The UW-Stout lacrosse team (0-12) fell 21-3 to the Eagles of UW-La Crosse (10-4) Saturday afternoon in La Crosse.
The Blue Devils fell behind just 17 seconds into the game but responded when
Megan Copeland scored her eighth goal of the year two minutes later on a nice pass from
Halle Weinmann who recorded her team leading ninth assist of the season. The Eagles then closed out the first quater on a 4-0 run to lead 5-1 after one. UWL extended their unanswered goal streak to 11 and led 12-1 at halftime.
Abby Ziemann scored her first career goal on a free position attempt early in the third quarter.
Mai Nou Vang scored her 14th goal of the season a couple fo minutes lated to cut the lead to 12-3. But the Eagles would score the next three of the quarter and the only goals of the fourth to go on to win 21-3.
Copeland would add four draw controls and a ground ball. Allison Zwetler had three ground balls and
Annamarie Burch and
Abby Todey each had two.
Tessa Bailey made 14 saves and had six ground balls.
The Blue Devils were outshot 35-5, were 10-29 on clear attempts and had 32 turnovers. UWL had a 20-6 advantage on the draw controls and a 30-20 edge on aground balls.
The Blue Devils will be back in action on Monday, April 24 with they host UW-Eau Claire in their final home game of the season. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. at Nelson Field.
