MENOMONIE - UW-Stout will be represented by four individuals at the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship this weekend in Birmingham, Ala.
Mason Barth,
Kaden Martin,
Lance Pfrimmer and
Connor Walechka all qualified from the Blue Devil Men's Track and Field team.Â
The team has been coming around very nicely over the last couple weeks and it is no exception with our national qualifiers," head coach
Kyle Steiner said. "It's always nice to see your athletes competing their best going into the national meet."
Walechka qualified for the weight throw with a personal best 18.61 meters (61' 0.75").
Pfrimmer set the school record in the 800 meters with time of 1:53.36.
Martin set the school record in the 60 meters hurdles with a time of 8.14 to record the third fastest time in the north region.Â
"Connor, Lance and Kaden all had lifetime best performances last weekend, so we know they are ready to go." Steiner said.
Barth scored the second most points in the region in heptathlon with 5054 points when he won the WIAC championship.
"Mason has been qualified since January, but he has been competing the best he ever has in nearly all seven heptathlon events, including a very impressive conference weekend." Steiner said.
The meet gets underway at 10 a.m. on Friday. Barth will start the heptathlon and Walechka the weight throw at 10 a.m. Martin will run in the prelims on of the 60 meter hurdles at 1:30 p.m. Pfrimmer will run the 800 meter prelims at 3:45 p.m.
