Fort Myers (FL) – The Blue Devil Men's Baseball team continued their winning ways on Tuesday morning, defeating Defiance College by scores of 5-0 and 6-4.
Trevor Miller threw a gem in game one, throwing a complete game shut out, allowing two hits, striking out four and walking zero. The Blue Devils racked up 11 hits in game 1. Riley Boushack, Nolan Harke and Brandt Puzak all had multiple hits. Boushack led the way with three hits and two runs.
Nolan Harke, Jake Hesseling and Vinni Fonti all picked up an RBI in the game.
In game two, Cooper Bevling and Alex Foss led the way on the mound. Foss replaced Bevling in the third inning and pitched four and one-third innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out two.
The Blue Devils jumped out to an early 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning on RBI hits by Harke, Jacoby Endreas and Jack Redwine. After the Yellow Jackets cut the lead to 3-2, the Blue Devils would strike back with two of their own in the bottom of the fourth on two-run double by Ryan Herbst, scoring Endreas and Colin Hageman.
The Yellow Jackets would again score two runs to cut the lead to 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning. The Blue Devils would answer right back in the bottom half of the inning on an Endreas home run to left field, his first of the season.
Foss would close the door on the mound in the final two frames to pick up his first win of the season.
The Blue Devils improve to 5-0 with the two wins. They are back in action on Thursday morning at 8 a.m. central against Franklin and Marshall College.
