WINTER HAVEN, FLA. - The Blue Devils dropped two games to open the PFX Athletics College Spring Games in sunny Florida on Sunday. Stout fell 15-2 against Benedictine (Ill.) and 6-5 to Lakeland University.
GAME 1
Stout fell 15-2 in six innings against Benedictine (ill.). The game was close through three innings but a five run fourth gave the Eagles a 7-1 lead. Stout got one back in the bottom of the inning but a eight-run sixth iced the game for Benedictine.
Payton Dolecki,
Lexy Kupczak and
Emma Muehlenbeck each had two hits for the Blue Devils.
Anna Blanford pitched four innings giving up seven runs on eight hits to pick up the loss.
GAME 2
Stout started fast against Lakeland, scoring three runs in the top of the first.
Ashley Jacobson hit a two-run double and
Grace Vowell followed with an RBI double to give the Blue Devils the early lead. The scored remained the same until
Mackensie Wolterstorff hit a two-run homerun in the top of the fourth to give Stout a 5-0 lead. Lakeland scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the fifth to trim the Stout lead to 5-3. Lakeland kept the momentum going in the bottom of the sixth with three more runs to take their first lead of the game abd Stout was unable to score in the top of the seventh.
Payton Dolecki with 3-4 with a run scored. Wolterstorff pitched 4.2 innings and gave up three runs on five hits with seven strike outs.
UP NEXT
Stout will face Defiance College tomorrow March, 13 at 11:30 a.m. followed by a 2 p.m. game against St. Joseph's College Long Island.
