RHINELANDER, WIS. – The UW-Stout Blue Devil softball team fell to 8-7 to Edgewood College amd 7-1 to No. 16 Concordia (Wis.) Saturday at the 2023 UTC Invite hosted by UW-Stevens Point.
GAME 1
UW-Stout (0-3) fell 7-8 in a back-and-forth affair to Edgewood College. EC struck first in the top of the first with a three-run home run. Stout responded with two runs in the bottom of the first.
Ashley Jacobson drove in Stouts first run with an RBI ground out and Kayli Pfeffe followed with an RBI single. Stout tied the game at three in the bottom of the third when
Lexy Kupczak homered
Stout took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fifth with Pfeffe picked up her second RBI single of the game to give the Blue Devils a 5-4 advantage. Edgewood scored three in the top of the sixth to take a 7-5 lead. The Blue Devils answered in the bottom half with Alex Anderson hit a two-run homer to tie the game at seven. Edgewood got the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh and Stout was unable to push the tying run across in the bottom of the seventh.
Anna Blanford struck out eight in seven innings pitched.
GAME 2
After a scoreless three innings, Kayli Pfeffe put Stout (0-4) on the board with a home run in the top of the fourth. No. 16 Concordia broke the game open with two outs in the bottom of the fifth with six runs, aided by four walks and three Blue Devil errors. Stout managed just three hits and struck out eight times.

The Blue Devils will play two more games at the UTC Invite tomorrow. They will face Concordia at 1 p.m. and St. Scholastica at 3:30 p.m.
