MENOMONIE (February 1, 2023) - The Yellow Jackets of UW-Superior (13-7-2, 8-3-1 WIAC) shut out UW-Stout (15-6-1, 6-5-1 WIAC) with a final score of 3-0.
In the first period, Stout went on a power play at 4:54. The Blue Devils had some chances to score, but the game remained 0-0 after the penalty was killed by the Yellow Jackets.
At 12:49 of the period, Superior's Chris Ishmael went on a breakaway, but was stoned by
Tyler Masternak to keep the game scoreless.
After one to play, the score remained 0-0. Shots in the first period were in favor of Superior 16-6.
In the second period, the Blue Devils went on two power plays, one at 2:14 and one at 7:19 of the period. But Superior killed off both penalties.
At 10:28 of the period, Superior went on their first power play, but Stout killed the penalty. Just 17 seconds after the penalty kill, the Blue Devils went on their own power play. But again, was stopped by Superior's penalty kill.
At 16:54 the Yellow Jackets went on their second power play, this time making the most of their advantage. At 17:21 of the period, Superior's MacGregor Sinclair scored from the point. Charles Martin assisted on the goal to make the game 1-0.
At the end of the second period, Superior outshot the Blue Devils 23-12.
In the third period, the Yellowjackets scored another goal at 6:28. Troy Quinn scored with an assist by Conor Maclean.
With time dwindling down, Stout pulled their with 2:28 left in the game. But at 17:39 of the third period, Gavin Rasmussen scored for Superior to give the Yellow Jackets the 3-0 win.

Tyler Masternak stopped 32 Yellow Jacket shots. Dylan Meilun recorded his 11th win, stopping 23 shots, while recording a shutout.
