RIVER FALLS - The UW-Stout Blue Devils dropped the first of a home-and-home game with the UW-River Falls Falcons 5-2.
The Blue Devils (4-6-1, 2-4-0) allowed three first period goals and fell 5-2 despite outshooting the Falcons (6-4-0, 3-3-0) 44-33.
Stout got on the score sheet first, when
Peyton Hart scored on the power player 9:32 into the game. River Falls responded with three goals on shots from the point that were tipped in front to take a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.
River scored 6:24 into the second to take a 4-1 lead.
Matt Dahlseide would get Stout back within two with a power play tally with 4:04 to play in the second.
Stout was unable to get any closer as the Falcons scored at 5:37 of the third to regain the three goal advantage.
Tyler Masternak made 28 saves in the loss.
