RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Peyton Hart scored a hat-trick as the Blue Devils scored five goals in the first period to defeat UW-River Falls 5-2 in the WIAC opener.
UW-Stout (1-1-1, 1-0-0) picked up their first win of the season with a dominate performance over UW-River Falls (2-1-0, 0-1-0) who was receiving votes int eh lates USHCO.com poll.
Stout scored just 29 seconds into the game when the reigning WIAC Player of the Week
Maksis Brimanis scored this third goal of the season.
Boyd Stahlbaum picked up his third assist of the year.
Peyton Hart scored his first for the season on a short side snipe at 7:18 from
Kobe Keller and
Dylan Rallis. The trio teamed up just over three minutes later when Hart buried a shot from the slot.
Matt Dahlseide scored his first of the season, two minutes later. He scored 10 seconds into the power play and Stout lead 4-0 just 12:26 into the opening period.
Hart completed the hat-trick at the 16:34 mark when Keller won a battle along the boards and dished out front where Hart scored shorthanded from the top of the crease. Hart's three goals in a period are just the sixth time in program history that a player has scored three goals in a period.
Kobe Keller became the first player to tally four assists in a period.
River Falls scored with 3:40 left in the second period to break up
Dawson Green's shut out bid. Green finished with 27 saves, The Falcons scored with one second left on a power play with 1:24 to play in the game to bring the score to 5-2.
Stout was 1-2 on the man advantage. UWRF was 1-5 with a shorthanded goal allowed.
