Blue Devils Fall Short in 95-86 Loss at Eau Claire

The Blue Devils fell 95-86 to rival UW-Eau Claire in a hard-fought battle. Stout led 9-5 early on but an 8-0 Bluegold run to flip the four-point advantage. The teams traded baskets before UWEC built a 17-point lead. Stout was able to rally and only trail by six at the half. Stout retook the lead at 56-55 with 14 minutes left to play. For the next three minutes the teams traded baskets and then UWEC went on a 11-0 run to build a 12-point lead with eight and a half minutes to play. The Blugolds stretched the lead the 15. Stout stormed back but was unable to get any closer than six down the stretch.

Top Performers 

• George Scharlau scored a career-high 24 points and recorded his first double-double pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds.  
• Brody Fox scored 22 points, eight rebounds and two assists.
• Aidan Shore scored 17 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double of the season. He added three blocks and an assist.
• Gunnar Tebon scored 33 points to lead the Bluegolds.

• Stout's 42 points in the first half were the most they have scored in the opening 20 minutes in a conference game so far this season.
• Scharlau had seven offensive rebounds.
• Stout out rebounded Eau Claire 47-37.
• Stout outscored the Blugolds 38-30 in the paint.
• Stout shot 42.6 percent and Eau Claire shot 47 percent.
