UW-Stout 7, Martin Luther College 2
OWATONNA, Minn. (March 23, 2022) - UW-Stout swept all three doubles matches to start out the day and went on to a 7-2 win over Martin Luther College as the Blue Devils finished the 2021-22 season at West Hills Tennis.
The doubles wins didn't come easy for Stout. The No. 1 team of
Lauren Couves and
Ellie Becker defeated McKenzey Crowly and Tatum Schulz, 8-5. The No. 3 team of
Emma Benjamin and
Macy Hanson took an 8-6 win over Abigail Schewe and Katie Kutz. The No. 2 team of
Kyrstin Hanson and
Kylie Rennie were the first off the courts with an 8-3 win over Charis Glende and Sarah Hoffe.
Couves defeated Crowley at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-0. Becker made quick work of Josephine Biebertiz at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 win.
Macy Hanson captured a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.
Kyrstin Hanson was a 6-3, 6-3, winner at No. 6 singles over Hannah Broring.
Madeline Binczak was on the short end of a 6-2, 6-2, decision at No. 4 singles, as was Benjamin at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-0, decision.
The Blue Devils finished the season at 7-6 overall and 2-1 during the spring season, their only spring loss coming to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State.
