MENOMONIE (February 10, 2022) - UW-Stout will host their final track and field meet of the season when they host the UW-Stout Quadrangular, Friday, Feb. 11. The first events are scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Sports and Fitness Center.
The meet was originally scheduled to be a four-team meet, but one of the teams needed to withdraw due to health and safety protocols. The meet will feature men's and women's teams from UW-Stout, UW-Eau Claire and Bethel University.
The meet's final event is scheduled to begin at 8:25 p.m. Spectators are allowed, but are expected to be masked at all times while indoors and to remain in the bleachers during the meet.Â
Both of the Blue Devils' men's and women's teams are ranked in the top 25 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Rating Index. The men's team is currently ranked 17th, while the women's team is ranked 23rd.Â
The Blue Devils have several competitors ranked nationally in the top 25.
Kevin Ruechel is ranked first in the shot put with a throw of 56-feet, 6.50-inches.
Jacob Bugella is ranked second in the weight throw with a mark of 62-3.75.
Jacob Backes is ranked 15th in the pole vault with a height of 15-7.
Mackenzie Huber and
Hannah Zastrow are ranked in the top 25. Huber is fifth in the shot put (45-11.25) and 10th in the weight throw (55-1.50). Zastrow is ranked seventh in the 60-hurdles in a time of 8.92 seconds and is 18th in the high jump with a height of 5-4.50.
Grace Maurer is ranked 22nd in the 400-meter (59.11).
Hannah Miller is ranked 18th in the triple jump (37-8.50).
Demi Ploor joins Huber in the top 25 of the shot put, ranking 13th (43-2.25).
The WIAC Track and Field Championships are scheduled for Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26 at UW-Platteville. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. The indoor national meet has not been contested since the 2019 season due to the pandemic.
