Women Hoops close out close game in Michigan, beat Finlandia 58-47

Stout had a little bit of a slow start in a non-conference game against Finlandia, getting outscored 19-8 in the first quarter. The Lions made 42% (8 for 19) from the floor while holding Stout to 17% (3 for 18). The Blue Devils closed the gap a bit in the second quarter, shooting at a little better clip of 31% (5 for 16). The Lions led at halftime 30-22. Stout came out after the break with a huge third quarter, making an impressive four threes in six attempts. Stout closed the gap even more, only down by two (42-40) at the end of three. Stout played another impressive fourth quarter to close out the game. Holding Finlandia to only five points in the fourth quarter while scoring 18 of their own. This fourth quarter burst of scoring and defense was the key to a 58-47 Stout win.

Top Performers 

• Amanda Giesen put up an impressive double double, scoring 17 points and pulling down 18 rebounds. Giesen is now on a 10 game streak of scoring over 10 points. Giesen's 18 rebounds was the most by a Blue Devil since Katelynne Folkers pulled down 20 against UW-La Crosse in 2014.
• Raegan Sorensen also recorded a double double, scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds.
• Sydney Brennan added in 10 points, with 3 threes. Anna Mutch pulled down nine rebounds and also added five points of her own
• Natalie Bartle (14) and Maija Rice (11) were the double-digit scorers for Finlandia. Hannah Whitted also pulled down 13 rebounds for the Lions
