RIVER FALLS (October 8, 2022) -
Ellie Becker was a double winner and
Lexie Stein grabbed her first conference win in a 6-3 loss at UW-River Falls Saturday.
Becker cruised with
Lauren Couves for a No. 1 doubles win, downing the Falcons' Alexis Budzinski and Chloe Struss, 8-2. Becker faced Budzinski at No. 2 singles, taking a 6-4, 6-2 win.
Stein, a freshman from Sun Prairie, picked up her first collegiate conference win, coming back from a first set 6-4 loss, storming to 6-1 and 6-2 wins over Grace Aerts.
Couves lost a three-set contest at No. 1 singles, taking the first set, 6-1, but was edged 7-5 in the second set, but lost the tie-breaker 10-3.
Kyrstin Hanson lost a three set contest at No. 3 singles. After losing the first set 6-4 to Chloe Struss, Hanson caputed the second set 7-5, before bowing out 6-2 in the thid set.
Ashlyn Dellemann lost in straight sets, but the freshman played the No. 4 singles match to the hilt, falling 7-6, 7-5.
Madeline Binczak lost 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
The Nos. 2 and 3 doubles matches were tight affairs. Hanson and
Ella Lamppa lost at No. 2 doubles, 8-7, and the No. 3 doubles team of Dellemann and
Kylie Rennie lost by the identical score.
Stout will wrap up regular season play when the host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Oct. 15 at 3 p.m. and UW-Oshkkosh, Sunday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m.
