The Blue Devils survived a late rally by the Bethel Royals to win in five sets. Stout started fast, pouncing on the Royals, quickly building an 11-3 lead and holding them to single digits with a convincing 25-9 win. In the first Stout hit .542 with 13 kills and only one error, while Bethel hit .069. The second set went back and forth early on before an 7-2 run lifted Stout to a 18-12 lead and a 25-18 set win. Stout continued the dominate offensive performance hitting .517 with 16 kills. The third set again went back and forth, Bethel had seven blocks to slow down Blue Devils and hold them to a .105 hitting percentage. Bethel closed on a 6-0 run to win 25-18. Another close set pushed the match to a winner take all fifth. Stout regrouped an opened up an 8-2 lead, only to see the Royals storm back and tie the match at 11. Stout scored the next four points to upset the receiving votes Bethel Royals 15-11.Â
