RIVER FALLS, Wis. (October 19, 2022) – Three goals in the final ten minutes lifted the Blue Devils (2-11-3, 1-3-1) to a 4-2 over UW-River Falls (9-4-4, 0-4-1) Wednesday afternoon.
The UW-Stout was buzzing all afternoon, racking up 27 shots, 12 on target with four finding the back of the net. Stout got things started early on when
Kate Holst buried a loose ball past the Falcons netminder just 4:55 into the match for her first goal of the season. The Blue Devil offense kept the pressure but couldn't add to the score. River Falls was able to draw even with five minutes left in the first half on a long shot from outside the right of the box that found its way over Stout's goalie.
Despite many chances neither team could break the tie until a scoring frenzy in the last ten minutes. Stout's
Liv Winkler scored her second goal of the year running right up the middle and firing a shot past the keeper. The Blue Devils took advantage of the stunned Falcons 26 seconds later when
Lauren Chukel scored her first of the season to build Stout's lead to 3-1 in a blink of an eye.
River Falls scored with four minutes remaining to cut the lead to 3-2. But Stout responded 90 seconds later when
Caylee Boone scored. The goal was set up by a nice save by
Julia McNamar, a Blue Devil defender cleared the ball and
Kate Holst ran past the pressing Falcon defense all alone, the River Falls goalkeeper made a nice save but Boone pounced on the juicy rebound to give Stout back the two goal cushion.
McNamar picked up the win with making four saves on 11 shots faced
