THIS WEEK'S MATCHES: UW-Stout (10-10, 1-3 WIAC) will host Macalester College (12-6, 2-2 MIAC), Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m., then will entertain a couple of nationally ranked teams Saturday, Oct. 15, hosting a pair of nationally ranked teams with 9th ranked UW-Whitewater (19-3, 4-0 WIAC) at 1 p.m. in a conference match-up and 4th ranked the University of Northwestern (17-2, 7-0 UMAC) at 5 p.m.

PARKING: Parking on the UW-Stout campus is restricted during the business week. For games in Johnson Fieldhouse during the week, please plan to park in Lot 29. Do not park in Lot 4, which is a reserved lot for students that live in the residence halls.
THE BLUE DEVILS THIS YEAR: The Blue Devils are 10-10 on the season.Stout is averaging 11.1 kills and 2.1 aces a set. The Blue Devils as a team are hitting .174 as a team. Sidney Hoverman is currently second in the WIAC in kills, averaging 3.89 kills a set, while Caroline Braun is averaging 2.21. Kennedy Barrett is averaging 8.3 assists a set. Terrah Moshier and Staci Meyer are both averaging over 3.2 digs a set. Freshman Maja Anderson has stopped up on the serve, leading Stout with 28 service aces and averaging 0.48, good for fifth in the WIAC. | 2022 Statistics
LOOKING AT UW-STOUT: The Blue Devils return 10 letter winners from last year's squad and five starters from 2021. Top hitters Sidney Hoverman, a 2021 all-WIAC honorable mention selection, and Jessica Barr return. Hoverman averaged 3.53 kills per contest and Barr 2.22. Barr and McCayla Thompson were Stout's top blockers, with Thompson averaging 0.55 and Barr 0.53 blocks per set. The Blue Devils will be looking to replace leading setter Lexie Nelson, who provided 80 percent of the assists, averaging 8.21 assists, put down 1.55 kills, averaged 2.94 digs and 0.47 blocks. Staci Meyer and Terrah Moshier alternated at the libero position and were among the team leaders in digs. Meyer led the team with 3.30 digs per set and Moshier averaged 2.90 digs. Anna Hansen saw action in 91 sets and Caroline Braun saw action in 62 sets. After a two-year absence, middle hitter Lydia Kneubuehl returns. A LOOK AT MACALESTER COLLEGE: The Scots are 12-7 and 2-3 in MAIC play. They are averaging 10.6 kills a set and are hitting .168 as a team. Eliza King is averaging 2.27 kills and 3.5 digs a set. Adisa Preston is averaging 2.24 kills a set. Stephanie Geber is hitting .274 and leads the team with 58 blocks. LAST TIME THEY MET: UW-Stout won the first set, but Macalester College came back to take the next three sets - including a pair of long games - in a 3-1 decision Sat. Sept. 25. Stout won the first set, 25-22, but Macalester turned that score around for a 25-22 win in the second set. The third and fourth sets both went beyond regulation, with the Scots taking them 26-24, 30-28. Elise Banitt scored a career-best 14 kills and was matched by Jessica Barr to lead Stout. Sidney Hoverman tallied 11. Lexie Nelson matched a career-high with 48 assists. Macalester got 17 kills from Eliza King, 11 from Stephanie Geber and 10 from Adisa Preston. Macalester held a distinct advantage on the blocking line, tallying two solo blocks and 18 assists blocks to Stout's one solo block and 10 assisted blocks. Geber had six assisted blocks.

UW-STOUT COACH BEN STAUPE: Coach Ben Staupe (22-98) is in his first year as the Blue Devil head coach, coming to Stout after four seasons as the head coach at NCAA Division I Western Illinois University, which was preceded by eight seasons as the associate head coach at Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) member UW-Whitewater. Before joining the Whitewater staff, Staupe was the head coach at Rock Valley College, a junior college in Rockford, Ill. A UW-La Crosse graduate, Staupe also served a stint as an assistant coach at NAIA Viterbo University, as well as coaching club volleyball and high school volleyball.
