Stout hits century mark for fourth time; Ciriacks breaks 1000 career points

RIVER FALLS (January 26, 2022) – UW-Stout reached the century mark for the fourth time this season as the Blue Devils defeated UW-River Falls, 100-83, to complete the regular season sweep Wednesday at Don Page Arena.
 
The Blue Devils (13-6, 4-4 WIAC) trailed only briefly in the middle of the first half a 48-39 lead into halftime. The Falcons (9-8, 2-6 WIAC) cut Stout's lead to one point, 48-47, coming out of the locker room. But Stout went on a 16-6 run, fueled by a barrage of 3-pointers from Jon Ciriacks, Luke Geiger and two by Armani Tinsley, along with two buckets by Lovell Williams, for a 64-53 lead at 15:03.
 
The Falcons did cut the lead to three, 67-64, at 11:38. Stout responded and the Falcons got no closer than five points the rest of the way.
 
The Blue Devils had five players in double digits, led by Tinsley's 23 points. Geiger finished with 19, Williams 17, Ciriacks 16 and Brody Fox 14. TYreese Alexander finished with nine points. Ciriacks scored his 1000th career point on the first shot of the night by either team, hitting a 3-pointer. Stout made 14 3-pointers.
 
The Falcons were led by Noah Hanson with a game-high 25 points. Rodrick Payne had 20 points and Regan Merritt added 14.
 
Rebounds were hard to find tonight, as both teams shot better than 50 percent from the floor. Stout banged home 39 of 69 shots from the floor to shoot 56.5 percent. The Blue Devils were just as effective from 3-point range, hitting 14 of 25 to shoot 56 percent. Tinsley was 6 of 8 from deep and Geiger was 5 of 5. Stout hit 8 of 10 free throws.
 
River Falls shot 31 of 59 from the floor (52.5 percent), 8 of 23 from 3-point range (34.8 percent) and 13 of 18 from the line (72.2 percent).
 
The Falcons out-rebounded Stout, 29-24, with Hanson pulling down nine. Stout was led by Williams with six and Ciriacks with five. Williams also dished out seven assists. Stout committed only nine turnovers and forced 17 by River Falls.
 
Stout is off this weekend and returns to Johnson Fieldhouse to host UW-Stevens Point, Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
