Three straight goals late in third period power Stout over Northland

UW-Stout 6, Northland College 3

ASHLAND (January 22, 2022) - Northland College matched UW-Stout's first three goals one-by-one, but the Blue Devils turned on the jets in the final 12 minutes of the game to double up on Northland College, 6-3, Saturday at Bay Area Civic Center.

The score was tied 2-2 after the second period. Dylan Rallis, with his second goal of the evening, gave Stout a 3-2 lead at 1:29 of the third period, but as had been the practice earlier in the game, Northland matched Stout's goal when Eddie Gallagher scored his second goal of the night to tie the score 3-3 at 5:51.

Brandon Connett opened the door for the Blue Devils just over two minutes later, with an assist by Alec Skar. The defense shut the Lumberjacks out and Stout took a two goal lead on a goal by Peyton Hart, with assists by Skar and Nick Bowlin at 14:18. Bowlin scored at 16:19 to shut the door, with assists by Hart and Matt Dahlseide

Rallis got the Blue Devils going with a goal at 9:26 in the first period, with assists by Logan Nelson and John Jebamani. The Lumberjacks scored at 9:07 in the second period to knot the scored. The teams traded goals in the second perid, with Stout's Cole Beckstead scoring on the power play at 15:56, taking assists from Nelson and Alex Nagel. Gallagher tied the score at 17:41.  

Zack Cloutier recorded 28 saves for the win. Chris Curr made 31 saves for Northland. 

Stout will host UW-Eau Claire, Friday, Jan. 28 and Saturday, Jan. 29.
